3 Silver Sharks With A Redfined Shark

i have 3 silver sharks that are all about 8 cm long would i be able to put a 1 red-fin shark in the tank

Should be ok, but never no with that type of fish.

I would say it's not worth the risk.

The fish are very similar is shape and the Rainbow / Red Finned shark are agressive towards similar shaped fish.

Having said that, I've never tried it, if you do, just be careful.

hello withington. i think you should tell us some more information about your tank so that we can accurately give you good advice.

At this point i would say most likely not. silver sharks are very skittish while redfin (or ruby) sharks get quite territorial and aggressive as they age. so while they may be OK for now eventually you will have 3 10 inch scared silver sharks being antagonized by one 6 inch redfin shark. i dont think that would be a very ideal situation. silver sharks are very known for jumping and may well do it if pressured by another fish no matter what its size. there is also a chance that being together so long helps them and they dont jump after all. if you have a particularly docile (not too hard to find) ruby shark and a particularly tough (not uncommon) silver shark than this will work in your favor

Ultimately its your decision and often it will depend on the unique temperament of the fish. i try not to persuade you to one side but i think ive presented the facts well and i hope whichever decision you make goes your way.

If your tank is large enough to accomodate three fully grown silvers (6 foot minimum) then there will be plenty of room for a ruby shark in there without too much stress on the balas.

Rubies will not terrorise the balas that much, only when the sharks get too close to his house. He will only chase a short distance.
