i have a 3 gallon tank thats empty... plastic tank so its gonna be cold... has a light but i donno how warm that will keep it... i need somethin cheap and ok in cold water... any ideas? im not puttin a betta in cause its too cold for them... at least i think :S

any other ideas... im open to absolutely anything thats cheap and cool lol

Maybe little hermit crabs or large apple/mystery snails?

I would NOT suggest goldfish, since one requires a minimum of 10 gallons.

i thought about some crayfish or something... white clouds .. could i breed some in there... are they easy?

3 gallons is not enough for white clouds. They are active, schooling fish and need both company and space.

As far as I know, there are no fish that will thrive in an unheated, unfiltered 3 gallon bowl. And I don't think snails were what you had in mind.

One idea: I think you can get small reptile heating pads for around $10. It might take some tweaking and positioning, but if you can get the temperature stable, you could keep a betta.

Hope this helps...

are... white cloud mountain minnows... they are excelent fish for that tank... 3 would be excelent!

theyre hardy fun and cool! add a couple ghost shrimps, and a snail

that would be exciting

edit : if u dont know what a white cloud mountain minnow is... i hav a pic of one in my avtar... search it up on the net

If the temperature of the room is kept in the mid-70s then the 3 gallon tank should be fine. We have an Eclipse Explorer with no heater and the temperature in the tank hasn't dropped below 76. I would get a filter for it though unless you want to be constantly cleaning out the tank. In a 3 gallon you could probably put a few guppies or a betta. I wouldn't try to keep any schooling fish because: 1) they get very boring 2) there really isn't enough room in a 3 gallon for a large enough school.

Hey there,
You could get a cheap 25 watt heater. My LFS has them for $5.00. Then you could get a dwarf frog, or a betta, or 3 dwarf cories. but really without a filter a betta may be your only option! :D

I kept 15 WMC with & Zebra Danios in a 5ltr Tank with filter runnin, ho heater and no light.

Just Natural light and they were on the welsh Dresser i the Consevatory, and the WMC have survived to be happy in my tropical tank.

The danios did not make the winter.

I have a betta and two dwarf frogs in a unfiltered 2.5g tank. They do fine, I have had them for about a year without any promblems.

PSgill that is way overcrowded! I think fin has the right idea. that or you could go out and find a frog out in the wild in your area and keep it with a piece of drift woodso it can climb out.
