Hi there
I had to catch all the shrimp i could out of community tank as i need to treat the fish and didnt want to lose the shrimp , the move went well they all seemed happy going in the established fry/shrimp tank with the cherry shrimp .
This morning when i got up 3 of my females with eggs had died over night .
All water tests are perfect and the cherrys have been fine in there with no fatalities .
Do you think they died through stress of being caught and moved ????????

:(

tank - Juwel rekord 60
0 ammonia
0 - nitrite
10 - nitrate
7.2 ph
temp 26

are you sure they have died or just shed their skin?

Did you acclimate them before putting them in the new tank? Perhaps there are differences in parameters (other than ones you've tested) between the tanks and the shrimps suffered stress?

they were bagged and then had the water gradually changed from the bag to the tank water over 2 hours so they should have been ok
is that the right way to do it ?

That sounds ok to me. Usually amano shrimps are quite tough. I guess berried females are a bit vulnerable and they didn't take the stress of the move too well :(

Sounds pretty good, although two hours isn't necessary. 45 minutes to an hour is fine for most shrimp.

I agree with iSNail, it was just stress. :/

thanks for the comments guys - i felt so guilty when they died but i had to move them cos i didnt want them to be poisoned by the meds that are going in the tank - it was a bit of a catch 22 moment :(

poor shrimpies :-(
