2Nd Tank Advie

Hello everyone. I havent been on here in a while but thought id post here for some advice on 2 issues.

I currently have a 64L tank that i have had for well over 6 months. I was told recently that it is overstocked. Could someone please advise me?
I have

4x Black Phantom Tetra
2x Yellow honey gourami
2x Red honey gourami
1x Betta
1x Female Betta
2x female swordtail
1x male swordtail
1x bristlenose plec
1x swordtail fry

All of my fish get on great and i havent had any fighting from any of them.

My second thing is, i am getting a 2nd hand 90L Fluval Roma (i think) on Sunday. It is coming with a few fish, i know there are some clown loach, but not sure what the others are. Im not too keen on clown loach and am only taking them cause its such a good deal with the 2nd tank.

In the long run i want to keep Rams. I had two but they both died each within a short time of the other, my female got swimbladder and the male died after i removed her from the main tank. Anyway, my question is, i would like to keep Rams and possibly Angels. Are they compatable? How many could i have of each? Would they be ok in the 90L or should i do a switch and have my community tank in the 90L and the Rams/Angels in the 64L?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Would you like me to go through all of that in detail? It will be painful and not what you want to hear.

Edit: before you reply, do look up the adult *height* of angels, and don't believe the smaller numbers you see.

Angels are not suitable fish for a 90 litre tank. Neither are Clown Loach. A pair of Rams are though and are an excellent choice.

As for your current tank, it's a very poor selection of fish to be kept together tbh.

Thats what the other person said, but can i just say that none of my fish fight, at all....

Ok, so i wont go for the angels, it was just an idea as someone on another forum had the two together, although im not sure how big their tank was...

Can i only keep 1 pair of rams? I was hoping for more....

The clown loach is already in the 90L tank, im assuming it has been ok so far...

Lol! Have you seen how big a clown loach gets? They're sociable species so do better in a group of around 5 or 6 and will require a 5-6 ft tank eventually. If kept in too small a tank then their growth will become stunted which is not a pretty sight as this often leaves them deformed and odd looking.

As for the Rams, i don't think you will get 2 pairs in, 1 pair will just about be ok. Then pick a suitable group of dithers.

I did see some today in my lfs when i was buying sand, they were pretty big. I dont actually like them so maybe i will see if a friend of mine wants it?

What other fish would people suggest? I already have a community tank. I was hoping to maybe have just a one species tank...Cichlids of some kind...Im not really sure....

You will struggle to have many more fish in this tank than a pair of something imo. (other than dithers) Maybe ask about small shell dwelling Tanganyikan Cichlids, Multifasciatus (sp?) but this would require a very different set up to what you would have for something like Rams. Read up on the shellies, they maybe ok, but may not be.

Only rehome the clown loach to your friend if his tank is suitable for them. If not then try and get some credit for it at your LFS.

You may also be able to fit a trio of Apistogramma's in, 1 male and 2 females...

So how big would my friends tank need to be for the Loach?

I like the look of Apistogramma's...sadly i dont think any of my lfs sell them...at least i dont think they do. If i did manage to find some, could they live happily with a pair of Rams? Im planning on having my tank planted with lots of rocks etc for them to hide in.

Ah, ok.... Im not too sure on the size of the tank, the one of the couple im getting it from gave me measurements that make me think its 90L, the other gave me measurements making me think its 125L....i guess that extra wouldnt make much difference if i was lucky enough for it to be a 125L? Am gutted i cant afford a HUGE tank!

The Roma 125's are 31" (tank, 32" with the rim) so a nice sized tank and would probably house a pair of Rams and a pair of Apisto's in a cleverly designed tank with some sight line breaks.

Really? Cool, well i had better keep my fingers crossed that on Sunday it turns out to be a 125L

I know, I'll probably just stick with either a pair of Rams or 3 Apisot's (if i can find any). I wouldnt want to cause them any stress and have them die....

Apistogramma's and Bolivian Rams will be easier to keep than German Blue Rams... Bare this in mind when selecting.
