I have a old 2ft tank sitting empty at present, and i've been debating what to do with it. I think i've decided lol

Gonna do a custom background in it, being small it wont take long, i have everything i need to get it done (foam, render, oxides, sealer etc), so shouldnt take me too long at all. I will be actually starting it next weekend (unless i can get the 5ft finished earlier this weekend lol), as i then have a week off work and can get into the render work part in full force, it will need to sit for about a week to make sure the render is fully dry before i can seal it though.

My plan then, once the background is installed, is to do DIY substrate and plant it up. I wanna move my Tiger Endler colony to a bigger tank, so this tank will become their home (males only will be then kept in their old nano for display only)

So stay tuned for the next project :)

Should be really cool build looking foreword to the pics :)

A tiger kingdom! I'm sure it will look awesome!!

*pressure is on*

Lol!

LOL Pressure away

I have way more than enough Tiger endlers to fill the thing 3 times over lol Thinking i will either need to sell some off or drop some into the goldie tanks

How I wish I can have those tigers... haha

I'd give ya some gladly, when i say i gotz lots, i mean lots and lots. Like rabbits they are lol

Soooo foam work has started. This one i am doing a little different. (it will be a lot quicker finish than the 5ft was lol

I'm just waiting for some silicone to cure for a bit (joining foam to foam), then i can finish shaping, then i can check fit and silicone it into the tank, i'm hoping i can grab a pic tonight for y'all

This one should be rendered tomorrow (most coats) all going well

Finally started rendering. I got a different render mix this time around, and it behaves a bit different too lol Anyway it is way paler (nearly off white) so colouring it will require a bit of trial and error. It is by far easier to apply though as it behaves a bit like a soft clay. I have found i can mould it, which is proving to be a bit of a distraction lol I've been playing with moulding rocks, yep can see me having to get another bag of this stuff sooner than i thought lol

Sooo, as i said i've done 1 coat on the right hand piece (in pic above), i am waiting now to see just how pale it will dry to....pic will come once i get the other side done

Left hand side section now had first coat of render. I am pretty sure this render will dry white or very close too. Next layer i will start messing will colours

Sounds like fun! Can't wait to see how the colors turn out :)

So we've done the colour....pic is showing only one side coloured, both are done now.

And yep....this render dries white

That's a lovely color!

Thanks Nin, wanted to try something different to just grey shades.

The colour is sandstone, it will dry a bit lighter to the above pic. I am gonna mess with highlighting tonight and see what i can come up with. If i am not happy i'll just do a new colour coat lol
