29g Saltwater Nano Tank

I’ve read that more dry rock is better? So maybe 20lb of dry rock and 3lb of live rock?

——

Had the pleasure of tasting saltwater just now. ☠?

Sounds like a good amount of rock. Good beginner corals are mushrooms, gsp, leathers, xenia, zoas, and candy cane corals.

Got a picture!

Tank only has about 10 gallons of saltwater/RO water.

I did get some nice picks! I will continue to fill up the tank (if that RO system will filter fast enough. ) and then scape the tank.

Total on the rocks was $76, but I had a $10 in store credit, so it was only $66 to me.

Those few rocks cost you $76? ouch. I'm in the wrong line of work. Time to start selling rocks.
I used to take 100 times that much into the shop when I went to the beach for seawater. I spose that's the drawback to living in the mountains instead of by the coast.

I know right, it’s crazy... the live rock didn’t even have that much algae.

Those 3 pieces of live rock cost me $18 alone!!

When using the bottled bacteria, do I need to remove the active carbon from the filter? Or will it be fine?

I think I’ll go ahead and remove it, just in case.

I plan to dose the bacteria tonight!!

Got the rocks arranged!

Took me a while to get them balanced. I’m not sure I like the support on that arch piece, so I may rearrange some there.

I also need to try to move the whole thing to the right, because I scaped it off center.

Did you epoxy the rocks together? I made the mistake of not putting epoxy on my rocks and they are not very steady.

I went ahead and added the whole bottle, because I don’t see how you could possible overdose beneficial bacteria. :dunno:

I’ll wait 24 hours before I test the water.

Don't have carbon in the filter, you don't need it.

Make sure rocks are stable because you don't want them falling.

Don't bother moving the rocks, you will probably add more later on or the corals will come on rocks and they can go in the open area.
