I plan on re-doing this tank in a few weeks. I'd love to hear any suggestions:

Thanks. :D

Comet, i think you should go to the doctor as there must be something wrong with you to even consider tearing apart such a beautiful tank!! :S i mean talk about awe inspiring !!
if you really need to do some decorating i would see it as an excuse to get a new tank or come over to britain to redo my crappy looking tank!! :D

Wow i love that tank  - leave it as it is as it looks awesome and i bet it took a while to grow it to look like that  ; just by curiosity, if you do change it what are you planning to do to it?

it is quite a nice tank. what kind of fish is that I see?

It is recomended by some planted tank experts to redo the planted tank every year or so so that you dont get bord with it, though I dont see how you can redo some tanks as there are so many plants in them, but this one seems like it can be re done.

Have fun with it!

That looks great , comet , very lush .

I wouldn't change it .

What fish do you have in there?

Awesome tank as you've already read from the posts above. I can only add to the leave it alone faction. Maybe enhance the setup by more interesting and colourful livestock.
If you change it, you'll only want to change it again and again be content in what you've already achieved.
Regards

Thank you everyone for the nice comments. :D

wrs + Lucky - The fish you see is a Geophagus brasiliensis. He (or she) is a baby, maybe 2.5". He will be moving over to a 55g when he gets to about 5", then eventually to a 75g, as they are supposed to reach 11". At the moment, I also have a BN plec, a keyhole cichlid, and 3 USD cats (which I never see).

guppygirl + Tokis Phoenix - The plants on the right are actually swords (2 Red Rubin, 1 uruguayensis, 1 compact?) I want to spread them out a bit, and I might add an Ozelot sword from another tank. I've had the tank planted since February.

aloaring - your tank is beautiful, but I'd still go to Britain.

The next water change, I might pull up the wood, and remove the big piece of slate it's attached to. It's tanking up valuable real estate.

Geophagus brasiliensis' are quite pretty cichlids! very pearl looking, probably why they call them pearl cichlids.
