29g -> 55g

Ok so i'm about to move in a couple of weeks.

this past weekend i gave away all my cichlids and spent the day srubing and washing the tanks and the filters that i had on there.

heres my idea. i wanna set the 55 up as a saltwater tank (eventually a reef tank). in my 29 i have about 10-15lbs of live rock. i have live crib-sea live sand in it. also a seaclone 150 skimmer.

so my question is. if i buy another bag or two of live sand and take the live rock and the live sand out of my 29 and put it into the 55 would it be safe to just put my fish in the 55g right away or do you think there would still be an ammonia/nitrite spike? i'm not sure if 10-15lbs of live rock would be enough of a biofilter to be able to get the 55 started up?

my stock in the 29 is:

sailfin blenny
zebra hermit
firefish
emporer cardinal
condy anemone
normal live rock life (featherdusters, tubeworms etc)

how would they do if i switched them to that new tank?

Should be no problems unless the live rock/sand is left out of the water for an extended period.

hmm, let it settle for jsut a week and run some tests, stiring up sand beds can kill stuff which in turn can cause an ammonia spike, stay on the safe side

And remember to wait at least 6 months before adding the anemone.

the stand will stay wet for sure. i will put it in a buck or something.

the anemone i probably wont even put into the new tank yet because i dont have upgraded lighting yet. but i figured i dont need better lights right away if i'm only gonna have live rock and fish for the first 6 months or so. i'll just save up for the MH's and do that lighting right the first time.

maybe it would just be better to just keep the stuff in this tank and then i'll just start up the 55 separately with the help of a couple live ricks to boost the biofilter of it.

i'm afraid to kill off the red corraline algae spots that are growing on my back glass...i was thinkings about just putting wet towels over them to keep them wet. dunno how else to do it?
