i have a 29 gallon and i have 3 mollies and 10 platys and 1 guppy how many fish are recommended in a 29 gallon aquarium?

thats a pretty good stocking level already. a good rule of thumb for beginners is 1 inch of fish per 1 gallon. now keep in mind this is a generalization and many of us over stock (especially those with cichlid tanks) if you have very good filtration on the tank you could squeeze a few more guppies in. your platy's are very messy fish, both when eating and the amount of waste produced.

As a rule yes 1"per gallon but also should be pointed out that this should be for the expected adult size of the fish....

As the tank is older and you are regular with your water changes and maintenance then this can be increased slowly...

...but I wouldn't exceed 2" per UKgal or 1cm per litre
