Hello, I am new here, and I have a few questions:

I just purchased a 29 gallon tank last week, its a SeaClear blah blah blah, and these are the fish Groups I want toput in it, I have not decided what would be best yet:

Starter Fish* = My Cycle Fish For When I start Up Aquarium

A:
- 6 Bala Sharks
- 6 Zebra Danios (Starter Fish)
- 1 eel

B:
- 1 Rainbow Shark
- 4 Blue Dwarf Gouramis
- (Starter Fish You vets Choose which would be best =P)

C:
- 6 Bala Sharks
- 4 Blue Dwarf Gouramis
- (Starter Fish You vets Choose which would be best =P)

I would also like to throw an Afeican Knife Fish in there somewhere on any of these if compatible...Please tell me which group you think is best on the 3 above, thanks!

Sorry I am not much help, but I can tell you that bala sharks get way to big for the tank that you have, you'll have to get something else.

EDIT: I would also suggest that you do a fishless cycle before adding any fish.

I will do the fishless cycle, but I was thinking that the Bala Sharks wont get too huge until about a few years down the road, and when that happens ill have enough money to buy a larger aquarium, but i see how it could be a problem if they get huge fast

I have never owned any bala sharks myself, but from what I have read they can easily reach over a foot long. I am not certain on how fast they grow, but all the ones I see in LFS are 3-5 inches already, and I don't think it will take to long for them to become bigger.

I would suggest you stock fish that can live for many years in your current tank as your plans for a larger one may fall through or be put off for whatever reason.

I would leave the sharks out, they grow quickly, can be agressive and territorial. The dwarf gouramis are a good choice BUT make sure you get 2 males and 2 females (i would recommend only one pair tho) as males get territorial. You may have a hard time finding females thoe, the colors can be kinda hum-drum so a lot of stores dont sell them. Zebra danios are great starter fish and so are White Cloud Mountian Minnows.

I also am stocking a 29 gallon and here's what i have planned:

-panda cories
-ottos
-danios
-barbs
-tetras
