25 Gallon Saltwater Tank

I want to Start up a 25 Gallon Saltwater Tank. So far I have:

25 gallon aquarium
100 watt deluxe heater
digital thermometer
Challenger 1 air pump
20 lbs. crushed coral
25 gallon sea salt mix
Seatest hydrometer

I have a few questions would it be better to use the Crushed Coral or Live Sand. How long should i keep it going before adding some fish, i thouht about putting 2 Platys in there i hear the can live in Saltwater to get it going is that a bad idea ? And should i put in some live Rock to get it started as well ? Let me know if i am going to right direction i want to get this working correctly. THanks
