hi there i am going to set up a 23gal us nano
tank is the aquaone ar620/viva aqua 90l
i will be going for a full reef effect live rock ,soft corals, hermit crabs, shrimp, snails, and maybe a clown fish not sure what sort yet will the clown be ok in a 23us gal tank??? also for tank mate maybe a yellow clown goby and a tailspot blenny...are these stocking levels ok or 2 much..?

flow will be provided by a hydor koralia nano 900lph and a koralia 1 1500lph so roughly 26 times turnover ph.
also will be running the built in over head filter so prob be a little more than 26 times will this be ok???
also might try turning one of the compartments in the over head filter into a mini refugium.

i'm planning on getting 10k of live rock should be enough for filtration.

no plans as yet for a skimmer but might add one later on if needs be.

lighting i will mod the hood so will have 2 36w 50/50 pc's not sure if i will be able to get the 55w ones in but will give it a go if i can...lol
so with the 36w ones should have a little over 3wpg this should be enough light to keep soft corals i.e xenia,mushrooms,zoa's..
also will be putting 2 80mm 12v fans on top of the hood to blow over the lights to keep them cool.

not sure on heating yet was thinking a visi-therm heater but what size?? 100w or 50w?

salt will prob go for either instant ocean or reef crystals any pref on these???

thinking of getting a ro unit but not sure if its worth it at mo cos water changes will only be small 10% weekly i was planning on doing this sound ok??

i think thats everything for now just have to save some pennies for me new tank or i could use the old plastic friend..lol
i feel that the plastic friend will be getting a lot of use over the next few months or so

is there anything i have forgotten or should think about getting??

thanks in advance
:good:

Hi, Welcome to this forum. Your stock level are where they need to be in a tank that size ( maybe better with 2 fish) but three should be ok.YOU can do most inverts probably not anemones. For corals xenia, zoa, mushrooms, some lps(hammer coral, long tentacle coral, frogspawn, goniopora, and brains just to name a few.)I think for salt try tropic marin its better. My lfs just sells the water already made so i can help with the ro unit sorry.

thanks for the reply
my local lfs does water already made up so might go that route yet
i do like the look of the hammer corals but doesnt it sting would it be ok with xenia and mushrooms??
