Well its nearly the end of 2010. How has the year been for you fish related and just in general? Have you achieved anything? Done anything brilliant. Or has this year been sad, or tough for you?

For me it's been pretty good. I got myself a job which im very happy with, i've seen my beloved rugby league team Wigan Warriors win the super league against our bitter rivals St Helens. I've been to Egypt and seen amazing reef life. I've nearly learned to drive (got my test early 2011). I got another baby cousin. I've seen my niece grow up! And generally had a good year with my mates.

Fish wise, I have learnt alot. And set up a nice tropical tank.

All the best for 2011 everyone!

Regards, James_Fish. :good:

Well, without being a right miserable old trout I have to say that I won`t be sorry to see the back of 2010, just as I wasn`t sorry to see the back of 2009, 2008, 2007 and 2006 :/

After meeting Hubby in 2005, his ex wife decided to become a right nasty piece of work....well more than the usual anyway and she made it her mission to block and deny all contact between Hubby and Stepson.
Since then we`ve spent an awful lot of time, money, energy and tears going through the Family Court system trying to get some form of contact agreed but to no avail.
I won`t go into too much detail suffice to say that Stepson has been severely alienated against his Dad and we felt we had no choice for Stepson`s emotional state but to take a back seat and wait until Stepson reaches an age whereby he will begin to see the lies and vile nature of his mother and we will always hope in our hearts that he`ll choose to make contact in his own time. He`s 13 now so I guess we have a few years yet to wait
Anyway, after 5 and a half years of battling not only with a vile, bitter and mentally retarded ex wife as well as doing our best to deal with the incompetence and disgusting attitude of the Family Courts, we are genuinely and deeply hoping that 2011 will hold a decent level of good luck, happiness and smiles for us.

My Dad has suffered some worrying health issues too but fingers crossed he`ll be ok

Despite the last few years having been very, very difficult for us, we have each other and for the most part we have a good level of health so we`re luckier than a lot of other people in the world and we do count our blessings on that score :)

Happy New Year to you all and I sincerely wish you all the very best of everything in 2011 :D

Its been a strange year for me

Personally an odd one as my wife and I seperated in August but we have managed to sort things out

I;ve had a stressful one in work, my boss that I;d worked with for 8 and a half years after we'd built the department up into the biggest in our county was sacked. In June they gave me his job although I don;t want it permanently. Its too stressful and not for me for the future however I;ve done well and I've got a pay rise out of it andmore credit for the future

Fish wise a topsy turvy one. I've set up my first marine and loved it and definately a type of fish keeping for the future. My main tank has had piranhas, uarus, oddballs and now discus as I;ve been searching for something I really wanted and i;ve settled on the discus and that tanks now going quite well

I also changed mentality money wise , chopped credit cards and have made big efforts at reducing debt. I must be getting older and wiser as 2011 is going to be a big year in that sense and I want to get rid of as much as my debt as I can

anyhow still her healthy kids healthy so all good

happy new year for 2011 peeps

Simon

My 2010 has been quite good. After finishing school, getting the results i wanted, i started my apprenticeship in Dental Technology. This game me what everyone needs. Money! so this reborn my hobby for fish keeping. So i went out and started getting some more equipment and left the world of livebearers, and set up my community tank. Since then i have had a lot of luck with my fish. After purchasing my unproven pair of firemouths, i got my first ever batch of Eggs! I have learnt a lot about how to care and look after my fry, thanks to everyone on here for the support, sadly all the fry died. But thanks to my bristlenose i had a another attempt, and this time i still have a few live and swimming! So for me quite a eventful year for my fish keeping wise.

Started my job in july, and so far have loved almost all my time there. Even tried to persuade my boss to put a fish tank in the reception of the Lab, but he said he is going to put a TV there instead. So i tried.

Good luck to everyone in the new year and :- HAPPY NEW YEAR :-
Bring on 2011! :drinks:

I half way shut down the fishroom last January, my son began house hunting. This was in anticipation of having to do remodel/rehab work on a house, leaving me little time for fishroom activities. He closed on a house earlier this week, one that needs very little work, so time to plan ahead for getting things running as normal.

Izzy went from foster to family member in February, she's a good little dog! Got some of the excess weight off of her with a proper diet, had her teeth fixed up, she has a lot of good years left, wouldn't guess that she's 11.

Began shipping blackworms in early spring, at the request of customers who bought locally but lived hours away. This is in many ways compensating for it slowing down somewhat at work, it all evens out I guess.

Spent the summer house hunting, acquiring furniture, and basically turning my home into a warehouse. We probably looked at 50 houses this year, packed the basement & garage with furniture, boxes, you name it.

My daughter moved into a rented condo in December, so late fall was more boxes, more furniture, more stacking stuff around the house.

So now my house is half destroyed, totally disorderly, my fishroom is running at less than half capacity. I've got a third dog that has really come out of her shell with some terrier attitude, some soon to be empty rooms, as my son immediately used my daughter's room for storage. The more stuff I see leaving the more I want to just rent a roll off dumpster, and toss everything I haven't used in a year, really empty the place out. As I see it it isn't empty nest time, it's second honeymoon time. :good:

So, regroup & reorganize, decide & discard. It's been a fun, busy year, sometimes aggravating but goals have been met!

I can't complain to be honest. It was a great year as it was my first year at uni.

Looking forwards to the new year as I will be hearing whether me and the OH are going away to china/california for a year next year (2012). As he may be doing a year in industry for his uni course with the people he works for now.
I'd be going cause... well... how often do you get asked if you'd like to go abroad for 6months in china and 6 months in california all expenses paid...
It means I have to pause my degree for the year but I WAS NOT going to say no to that oppurtunity.

Fishwise all hands are go atm as a few pairs of my dwarf cichlids are starting to get frisky. And the n. tranvestitus spawned around xmas day (whilst I was away!). We lost the first batch (presumably due to a heater drama where it got unplugged and the tank dropped to 12C).
But they've spawned again last night/this morning so fingers crossed.

And I'm also finally getting to grips with hatching/growing my own live food. Brine shrimp and micro worms. :good:

I will be around all night for new year though :( 'fraid I have too much revision to do to warrant going and getting wasted. Plus tbh... town at new year is a mugs/singletons game. Of which I am neither

Well some good reads so far :good:

Im now off the pub to have a few with the lads. Work in the morning for me though, im afrad! :(

Again, All the best for 2011 everybody :good:

James.

2010 has been a good year for me i became a grandad for the 3rd time to a baby girl (isabell) she is a cutey. I still have my job which is a bonus as things did look a bit rocky on that front for a while.

Been walking round london all day today soaking up the atmosphere and just generally chilling out, Home now and to tired to want to go out so its me and the misses and the tv lol, I must be getting old.

My fish for 2010 has been the worst year so far, We changed tanks the old one developed a leak and within 4 weeks a major outbreak of ICH which in the end took 24 fish 7 of them being 3 year old clown loach. Started all over again and now things all going well (fingers crossed).

To everybody reading this Happy New Year and all the best for 2011

Si :good:

The last 3 years have been absolutely horrid, with only a few high points, far too many low points!

I am very pleased to see the end of 2010. I can only hope 2011 will be better

Not to worry BigC, eventually they pack up & leave!
HA HA HA I see yours have just flown the coup.
Mine I think are here to stay, to move would mean financial instability and they would not be able to buy new iphones at the drop of a hat
so maybe I should empty all the food cupboards.
lol
