I am getting ready to re-do my 20-gallon tank. I put a certain type of water conditioner in it and everything died! So, I'm trashing everything in the tank and starting over. I want to put white gravel and marine-type decorations in it, to make it look marine-like without the hassle. I just love the cichlids, but from what I've been reading, can't put them into a tank that small. (I have no room, nor money!, for a larger tank!) What about the dwarf cichlids? Or anyone out there have any suggestions as to what I can put in there that look a little like salt-water fish? I'm new to this whole forum, and am just fascinated with what I'm reading.

not a dwarf cichlid , but look into peacock gudgeons/gobies

A pair or trio of Dwarf cichlids can work in a 20 gallon tank. Look at a pair of Rams, a pair or tiro of Apistograma, or a pair of Kribs. Do some research and learn about the different kinds and decide what sounds good to you.

Ive heard of bricardis been kept in a 20gal tank, they really would enjoy th set up to... dunno if big enough but a pair of bricardis if left with fry will continue to breed, with th older fry helpin in th up bringin of th new fry... just remember to take th old fry out before becomin a threat to th male about 1.5">
