So I think I've decided I want to get Pitbull Plecos for my 55 Gallon. I have a 4" Common Pleco in there right now that I'm going to re-home to the LFS early this week. He's really becoming quite a nuisance to the other inhabitants of the tank. A friend of mine doesn't think Plecos can be aggressive, but this one literally stalks everybody else in the tank! I had also thought about getting some BN Plecos, but I already have one in my 29 Gallon, so I thought I'd try another small Pleco for my 55 Gallon.

I've been reading that Pitbull Plecs like to be in groups, so my question is should I get 2 or 3?

Other fish in the tank:

GBR Pair
Klugei Pair
10 Harlequin Rasboras

The GBRs and Klugei like to stay at the bottom of the tank, which is why I'm a bit undecided if I should get the 3rd Pitbull Pleco or not.

Well you have enough room for 3 so get 3 they like to be in groups more is better.

thanks for that!

but how much do they poo? is it alot =/

i need a new algae eater lol

That I'm not sure about because I've never had them before. Maybe someone else will chime in. I know Plecos have a terrible reputation for producting a lot of waste, but these guys are so small I can't imagine they produce as much as a Common or other larger Pleco.

Pit bull plecos tend to be more like otos and less like plecos. They also like to hide under sand when scared. I don't think you will notice poo being a problem they only get 2". Great little fish I'm still kicking myself for not buying them when my lfs had them. I thought about it went back the next day to get them and they were gone :( I'm going to try and have them order some once my tank is cycled.

So enjoy those little guys.
