Hi, I forgot how to get rid of algae on my plastic plants. I know I hot it bcause I over feeded the tank. Can anyone remind me how to wash it off my plastic plants ? N how to avoid getting it back ?

Also in my Angels tank I had been getting dark spot algae on the glass, I use the scraper to clear it out but any idea how to get rid of it n don't get it back ?

if its regular green algae, you can remove the plastic plants and wipe it off with a paper towel and rinse

Post pictures of the algae so we know what species you have.

You can bleach plastic plants to kill off algae. Just rinse them well before putting them back in the aquarium.

The only ways to stop algae is to have lots of live plants to use the light and nutrients, or turn the light off. However, having no light above the tank means you can't see the fish when it's dark.

Get some floating plants like Water Sprite (Ceratopteris thalictroides/ cornuta) and let them spread across the surface. They will stop the algae.

Need pictures of both tanks so we can compare lighting, plants and anything else that might encourage algae.

One tank might get more light from another source (window, room light, etc). Maybe one has more live plants in than the other (assuming they have any live plants). They might have different lights (wattage, temperature/ Kelvin rating). The tanks might be different height.

No live plants only plastic. 36 gallons tank with those dark algae dots came from petsmart as a kit with its own filter, heater n stuff that tank is 22 1/2 inches tall. No other source of lights hitting it, except that is in the kitchen so everytime you turn the lights on in the kitchen at night time no other light will hit it.
The other tank is a 75 gallons in the dining room.
with a normal light n except for when you turn the lights on at night No other source of lights will hit that one either
It's 7 am here n it's dark so I will take pics later cause I'm late for church. I will post pics in a couple of hours
