When you say 25 gallon heaters, how many watts is that? whenever you label so,thing 25 gallon filters/ heater, it really doesn't give anyone a place to stand on answering your question.

I would say though that adding two weaker heaters can always be better than adding 1 big one. just because two will keep the tank more evenly heated, and if one breaks or gets stuck on, it won't destroy the tank.

I have two 50 watt heaters on my 26 gallon tank. One on each side. It works well. The temp stays about 77.

i would say the same thing and use a filter gard unless u want to findout the hard way i suggest u use one ( burnt fish isn't nice)

On larger tanks i always split the heater load between 2 or even 3 heaters to make up the wattage to keep the tank at the correct temperature, my 200g has 3 300watt heaters. This (as said) prevents the heater from being able to stick on and boil the fish as one heater is not powerful enough to heat the tank or if one fails completely the other two can keep the tank warm until a replacment can be bought. Fish stocks in larger tanks can run into hundreds if not thousands of pounds/dollars worth so it pays to be on the safe side.
