2 Gal Betta Tank filter

I just got a 2 gal hex tank for a betta and it came with a ug filter but it doesn't seem to be doing anything but making bubbles. Are these good filters or sould I look at getting the filter that you hook on to the air tube that stays above the gravel, or should I get a different filter all together?

For a 2 gallon betta tank, the UG filter will be fine.
