My cories had spawned earlier.. :good:

Anyway the platies have been feasting on their eggs

I thought i could remove them into my fry tank i might be able to save the last 3 eggs,i can see 1 on the plant left and 2 on the thermometer.i'm pretty sure they are fertile has they look beige with a dot inside.

I was wondering whats the best way of saving them,i read the newbies guide to breeding which is fab,

Would this work if i carefully move the eggs in to a small catching net,i will have to keep it under water has to not expose the eggs to the air, once i have retrieved the eggs by putting a jug into the tank and moving the net and eggs into the jug, lift it out, then move it to my fry tank, would it be ok to rest the net with the eggs in over the airstone in my platy fry tank, would they still hatch? if they hatch i can then put them in a breeding net to build them up.

help asap would be good please

Thanks

well fingers crossed i managed to retrieve 2 of the eggs, the third had disappeared.

And have placed them to the side of the airstone in the fry tank still in the blue catching net,so i can see if they hatch.

I'm not sure whether they will, but 1 can only but try

Very good Harlequins! What's even better news right now is just the knowledge that you have a group of corys that will spawn. If they've spawned once there is a very good chance they will spawn again within the next few weeks. If you want to try your hand at raising a batch you can be better prepared for the next time.

As you will see if they hatch, cory fry are very small and delicate, much more so than livebearer fry. They must be protected from the other fish, their parents included. This is best done by setting up a separate tank for breeding purposes. Once the corys deposit their eggs you can move them back to your community while you hatch the eggs and raise the fry under more controlled conditions.

Good luck with hatching them! :D

Thanks inchworm :good:

I'm so pleased that they've spawned even if i did only save 2 eggs,i wished i had thought about it earlier and i could have saved more eggs.

O well fingers and toes crossed to see if these eggs will hatch in a few days time :good:

hey what corys do you have? what PH and temp is your tank? I think my PH is too high for mine to spawn (7.2PH). I'd love mine to spawn but I've not been able to sex them yet, just hoping it happens one day!

my temp in tank was around 25 degrees and my ph is quite high anyway between 7.8-8.0,so even i'm surprised,i have cory julii :)

there most probably trillineatus (spelling? )not julli, might be worth getting some pics up :good:

ive found that cool water changes will induce spawning.

i had done the weekly water change the day before they started doing the t shape and spawning etc,so i reckon it spurred it on,at the moment the eggs are still in my 30l tank over an air stone,so i'm so hoping they'll hatch.
Unfortunately i've just treated the tanks for whitespot and now i have nitrite showing possibly 0.25 in the big tank so i hope the corys and other fish will get through it!!
They probably are false julii

heres a pic

Oooo getting excited wondering whether eggs will hatch....

They definately have darkened and have a dark centre, hard to tell whether they have little cory's in them...even with the magnifying glass,my eyes aren't what they use to be !!

Hopefully they might hatch today :good:

good luck
i managed to save a dozen eggs once and all hatched after about a week. the fry are tiny so be prepared to feed microworms or infusoria. even baby brine shrimp are too big for day old fry.
