I bought a pair of unwanted albino clarias catfish about 6months ago, at the time they were around 5 - 6 inch mark.
I put them in a foor foot tank, run on a UG filter and built a cave at the one end.
Ive done lots of internet searches and reading on them, as they have got larger the 1 has become more rounded and slightly fat and the other has stayed lean.
I thought that id been lucky and have got a male & female, the bigger of the 2 being the female.
Up until around 3 weeks ago they have lived well with each other continuiosly swimming around the tank, side by side, eating together but sleeping seperate. The bigger cat sleeping in the cave.
Then whilst doing the swimming around the tank the larger 1 started to nip the smaller 1 and harass it, this stressed it and made it looking for places to hide, even burrying itself under the gravel.
So 2 weeks ago i built another cave for the leaner cat to live in , to which the larger 1 moved into.
now the bigest cat lives inbetween both caves, whilst swimming back and fore nipping the others taill.
Now they are both attacking each other bite ing and being quite vicious.
could this be that the tank is too small, or could this be a part of them breeding, any ideas or info welcome.
Ps. they are both around 12 inches in size .
;)
