Theres still a lot of work to be done. It'll be barebottom until then.

Very nice birchirs, I'm hopinh to gain quite a collection aswell for my 200g.

What else will you put in there?

Have yours been fighting at all, my marbled and senegal don't get along too well!

There no fighting. Sometimes if two are going for the same piece of food theres an accidental bite, but nothing harmful.
I've got 5 more in growouts, not quite large enough to hang with the big boys.
And also a clown knife growing out as well.

I've been eyeing asian aros or a tigrinis catfish, but i'm not too sure i want to drop that much cash on one fish.

Great picture, do they always have their dorsal fin flared up like that. I've never seen them around here.

Go for both!! I would love a tigrinis catfish aswell, instead I have a TSN until it grows to big!!

My asian is just stunning though.

What birchirs do you exactly have?

Looks like a massive tank! What size is it exactly?

What kind of design are you going for? A low level cave system would look great for the birchers with some feature pieces of bogwood perhaps?

Ben :)

No, if they're just chilling they're usually flat on their backs.

The tank is a 6' X 2' X 2'. Its current inhabitants are

1- Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri
1- Polytperus "Zaire Green"
1- Polypterus ornatipinnis
1- Polytperus palmas buettikoferi
1- Polypterus delhezi

In a 20g growout
1- polypterus senegal
2- polypterus albino senegal
1- polypterus palmas buettikoferi
1- clown knife

10g growout
1- polypterus retropinnis (1.5 inches)

I'm going fot the low maintenance way (hence the half bare bottom and thin layer of sand). There will be a lot of driftwood, ranging from 1 foot the 4 feet long and some rocks

Go for both!!

Oh man, if i paid full retail price for an asian aro and tigrinis up here (Vancouver) i'll be looking at spending $1500 + $599= $2100 before tax. Throw on 14% and i'll be looking at $2394.

lotta tax up there huh. Whenever i need new hockey gear i wait for our trip to toronto bcuz we get all our tax back going over the border. Very Nice tank. It'll look awesome when its done.

Thats quite a few birchirs!! i just hope i can find that many!! Aren't you worried that the P. endlicheri endlicheri will grow to large compared to the others and eat em??

Thats pretty cheap compared to over here in UK. There's a shop not to local from me and that had a triguis cat up for £1200  strange thing is I'm tempted!! It was bascially fully grown at about 15-18"
