150 gallon

hi i currently have a 55 gallon tank that i want to upgrade to a 150.

its an mbuna tank and i live on the third story of an appartment but i will be moving in to a house in November. I want to get this 150 the cheapest i can...i dont have a lot of money to spend on it.... all i need is a tank, stand, and maybe a canopy.

it would make it easier to move that way i could just sell the 55.

i also have another 55 community tank and i have to move that too about 20 minutes away.

any suggestions on where i can get good but no top-dollar tanks, and on the technique to move a 55 gallon 20 miutes away would be great thanks!

In my opinion don't rush into it. Keep an eye out and wait for a good used one to come by.

I just moved myself. I basically took all my fish that I could and put the in a 5 gallon bucket. I moved about 45 min down the road and the O2 was np. If you think there might be a problem then while your drainig the tank and everything else I put a bubbler in the bucket. Dont know if it did any good but the fish lived. The rest of the water went into large toats that I got from walmart. Some where 7 gallons some 15 gallons. There is no easy way to move the water I hate to say. As far as the 150 gallon tank and a cheap way out is to make one. Very east to do. I made a 180 gallon tank out of plywood and a large piece of plexy glass for the front. The plywood was painted with a water proof paint that was very thick. I used 3 coats inside and out. The front was a large piece of plaxy glass. Then I was able to put the wholes in the back for all the piping. The tank and stand cost me about $200 to make. The only problem I had was making sure the plexy glass had a tight fit against the wood border I used for the front.

I also made my own refugium. All sides plexy glass. Had a couple of leaks from a bad cut that I fixed with some aquarium glue. To cut the plexy glass use a jig saw. The you going to need a joint plainer to smooth out the rough edges. Which I already had so I guess I did not factor that into the cost. $100 for that.
