Hi,

I am interested in building a 150-180 gallon tank. Can anyone point me to some plans that I can follow? Problem is that I don't want to have wood sides and those seem to be the only plans I can find.

Thanks,

SL

From one possible tank builder to another, good luck.

I am shortly gonna be building my very own 4'x'4'x2' tank (god knows how many gallons that is). All the sides of my tank will be glass, because I would like to see my aqaurium at any angle.

I'm not yet interested in building a base/cabinet for my tank, but instead lay it out on a raised layer of carpetting.

No disrespect, but I don't understand what you mean by saying the tank plans that you saw having wooden sides. I'm sure it may look nice, but don't see the point in not being able to see my fishes at any angle. Do you mean a glass tank within a wooden cabinet?

Hi,

Sorry I wasn't clear.

I really DO NOT want a tank with wood for the sides. An aquarium with just one viewing angle doesn't seem right.

If you ever come across any step by step plans please let me know. (and good luck with your tank!)

tanks are pretty simple its just buildinga box out of glass. Its best if you jerry rig a ring around the top and bottom but not necesary.

As for Kribs tank that is just north of 100 gallons US

:hyper: Wow kribsinvcrib, I make that tank to be about 240 GALLONS (US)!!!

I can see why you would go for the all glass approach, as you tank would be square rather than rectangular. However, most of the tanks with wood sides ARE rectangular in shape (i.e. 6'X2'x2') so the focus is all on the front, therefore having wooden sides adds strength, but does'nt interfere too much with watching the fish :)

I for one would love to see your tank when its finished kribsinvcrib, are you going to have it in the centre of a room? That would look amazing!

You are right I was wrong :*) I read 4'X2'X2' my bad but it is still just a box made out of glass. try to have the side pieces resting on the bottom pies though otherwise it will be a bit weak
