Wow, he's a beauty whatever type he is!!
I've got a box tortoise, they're really neat pets. She's a little gal though, much smaller than yours; only about 5" and captive-bred. She was 3" when we got her
He is gorgeous,I have a 7yr old Herman female.with Hermans the male has a longer tail that goes to a point and the females have a short stubby tail, also the males shell underneath is not flat like a females it has a sort of concave so that he can mate the female
My best guess is a very dark red footed tortoise, Geochelone carbonaria but I'm really not convinced! Perhaps you could get pictures of him from above, to one side and from below? He's very lovely either way
heh! I forgot to mention exactly why although he looks like a red foot he definitely cant be, red footed tortoises are tropical and would die if you tried to hibernate them
we rescued a red ear slider right after it hatched as it wasn't finding the lake and almost got hit. i felt bad, grabbed him and took him home. we had him for about 7 years til my mom gave him away to a little boy in her science class (she was a teacher). his name was tufton.
Have no clue what turtle it is, reptiles aren't my thing. Like them, just never kept them, so didn't do any research on them. At least there's one subject out there where I'm not a complete at.
