Thing is im setting up a new 40 Gallon tank for puffers and im looking for an external filter. In my 50 Gallon Discus tank I have an external running, don't know exactly how many Gallons it's for as the guy in the shop said thats the right one for my tank size, it cost £85 Ultra Jet Pro. I've seen a 132 Gallon Eheim and was wondering if that would be okay in my Discus tank and I could put the old external in the puffer tank as it will still be overfiltration which puffers need. Would 132 Gallon external not be too powerful in my 50 Gallon?

not sure of the exact waterflow but that sounds a bit extreme for discus... you might wanna get something a bit smoother.

I have an aquaclear 300 on a 50 gallon tank and i wouldn't put anything much stronger as the current near the filter is quite strong. I don't know if I'd go for something twice as strong on there. I have a feeling the fish would be forced near the glass and bopttom all the time...

Even with the spray bar and the thing you can attatch to the end of the pipe?

You can direct the spray bar straight down, or even back towards the side of the tank to reduce flow. I have a 2026 along with an ac300 on a 65 gallon angel tank, 2222 & 2224, ac 200 & a home made powerhead filter on a 55 gallon angel tank. By directing the flow, you can reduce turbulance. Water flow is ok, turbulance annoys them.

Think the filter im talking about would be okay then? Using the spray bar, could maybe drill some more holes in it. And also use that thing that you can attatch to the end of the pipe (that shell type looking thing)
