I am planning a 130 gallon FW tank.

I have a fluval 404 to start with and might get another. The tank has a hole in the bottom of it and I could make an overflow with one in each corner.

What would you reccomend for a super planted FW tank?

Thanks

I have a super planted FW tank.

I use a AC500, an emperor 400, a HOT Magnum and i plan on buying an Eheim.

But i like to overfilter =).

All my info is in my signature.

I wouldn't use the overflow. I would just get one or even two more fluval 404s. And get a surface skimmer to add to the intake of one of the Fluvals.

I was starting to think the two fluvals would be the better idea. Through my travels I found someone who had no use for a Marineland Pro 60 BioWheel system. So he gave me the powerhead (300 gph) and two massive Biowheels!!!!

Can there be too much bilogical Filtration? Will there be too much nitrifying bacteria? With regular water changes and media changes it should be fine. Especially if I don't max my tank.

If I have one 404 taking out into a 20 gallon sump, have the Biowheel Pro 60 in the sump, and the other fluval putting back in I should be more than fine. Right?

can't be to much filtration maybe current it is just that once you are overfiltering you are wasteing your money because there is no extra nutrience the bacteria then you will have the same amount of nitrifers spread over a larger and needlessly more expensive amount of filters, so past a certain point adding filtration does very little
