.

I love these tank journals, it great for beginners to the hobby to read other peoples journals, it gives the and idea on what to expect during the course of there own setups ans of course how to go about setting there own tanks up.

Welcome to the clan lol and good luck :)

A nice start, you obviously had some good advice.

The planting plan sounds promising.

What equipment (lighting, CO2, substrate, ferts) will you be running?

Fishkiller,

You're going to love it! I really enjoy my 10g planted. Funny, it is my most stable system, and involves the least amount of work.

Enjoy yourself. The layout looks fun.

Looking good.

A friendly word of warning though - Lilaeopsis brasiliensis is a demanding plant and notorious algae magnet due to its slow growth, even with ideal light and nutrient balance. This potential algae risk will be compounded by the fact you have no other fast growing plants that help fight off algae.

I recommend planting with plenty of fast growing stem plants from the outset. This helps quickly establish an equilibrium in the tank and reduces potential algae risk/growth. When the tank has balanced then you gradually replace the fast growers with more demanding plants of your choice.

Check out the pinned algae article for more info. The "Getting it Right From the Start" section should prove most helpful.

Looks good so far for that size of tank! I am also trying to find a good set up for my 10 gal planted tank too. I really like the driftwood and slate that you used...where did you pick up the slate at?

Yea, you are off to a wonderful start. When your java moss gets established and grows on the root, it will look very good. Almost like a tree, if not exactly like one. Will be looking forward to seeing you progress. Good luck!

Despite the lack of proper lighting, my micro swords seems to be...thriving.
That is good news. I'd be very tempted to leave things as they are then. Wait until the microsword has carpeted, then plant your fast-growers and up your lighting.

Perhaps you can be the first one I've seen on here to successfully grow Lilaeopsis into a lush carpet without algae. Good luck.

Its coming along very nicely, good job spotting those snail eggs. Once they get into your tank, there's no stopping them.

Tanks looks good

Paul

just a word of warning i dont know if you do this but as soon as i found out about this it has worked every time and i dont have snails anymore but when you bring your plants home put them in a bleach bath 19:1 ratio 1 beaing bleach and 19 being water for 30 seconds and it kills to snails and eggs

your tank looks really great i wish i could get another tank and make it look that nice

Anyway, different subject...

Has anyone heard of this snail before?

Says here it won't eat plants and won't breed in freshwater. Wondering if anyone of you has had them before, I'd like to hear some feedbacks! :)

I read about them in PFK, i, they need brackish water to breed, i haven't read anything else on them since.

You should have fun when you get your java moss carpet going, mines been going about 3/4 week you,ve to keep cleaning and trimming them, there only just starting to come to, mind you this is in a none co2 tank.

I love the way you have arranged the rocks......looks like some kind of ancient druid site!

Is the tree fake or real?..... think it looks good.
