I know I want some WCMMs and apparently they're best kept in groups of 6 or more, so that's my starting point, but what else (if anything) can I add.

From reading the posts here it's obvious that many (if not all) of the varieties of Goldfish are too big for the tank :(

Are there any small cold-water bottom feeders who would complement the mid/top swimming WCMMs?

What are the pros and cons of adding snails?! (they look cool and help keep the tank clean but I have no idea what they do to the chemistry of the water)

I'm plant mad so I was hoping to get some nice water plants for my fish to hide in and play around, is this a good idea in such a small tank?

I wont get the tank until September so I have plenty of time to research and decide what's the best course of action. However as you can see I've only just started out so any suggestions are welcomed!

Thanks in advance
Helen

P.S At the moment I'm expecting to use the old filter we had in the tank as kids, it's just an Electric submersible filter, so no bubbles but you can have the spout half in half out of the water to increase aeration. It's one of the black tower ones that fits on the side of the tank. It should be powerful enough provided it still works! If it doesn't any recommendations?!!

Ok, I've found these wui which look like they'll be cool in with my WCMMs, if I were to have 2 wui and 6-8 WCMM would that be overstocking my 10G tank? (it's got a surface area of 180" square)

Never heard of those before but it says they are carnivores and might eat your minnows?

Gobies in general are brackish fish so i would imagine this also applies to the gobies in the link unfortunately, making them unsuitable for a freshwater tank.

These are stream gobies so are fresh water.

As for the carnivorous side I'll have to look into that a little more, I doubt it as they're about the same size as minnows (only getting to 2") but I'll definitely see if I can talk to someone who has them and ask them about their eating habits!

Cheers For the replies.

Let us know if you get any and how you get on with them, they look really interesting, though getting a fast water flow may be the problem.
