besides apple snails, are there any other fish that a betta can live comfortably with?
also, is it okay for apple snails to eat the remains of blood worms that a betta hasn't eaten?

i believe the apple snail will eat anything that can fit inot it's mouth! as for what fish to put the betta is..its' sorta risky, since each betta has a different temperment, you could try putting in some ADFs, or otos/cory cats, bottom dwellers seem to go well with them.

I would avoid fancy colored fish such as guppies becuase the betta might see them as competition. Heard platies works well too :)

or you can always divide it up and put more bettas in :D

i thought about dividing it up, but since this is my only and last tank for a while, i was hoping to be as creative as i could with the interior, and the dividers will limit what i can do... i might get another 10 gallon for my living room and divide that up
so basically, a good list for the 10 gallon would be:
- one male betta
- one apple snail
- two platies

or
- one male betta
- one african dwarf frog
- one otto

those setups seem reasonable... let me know if they are too much or too little

they seem fine, except wtih teh first setup i'd go with 3 platties unless they're all the same sex. If you get a male and feamle it's best to tack on another female and make it a trio to spread out the aggression. I believe you'll be able to fit in 3 platties anyways :)

as for the 2nd setup, i'd make the otos in a group of 3 since they are schooling fish and will get depressed if left alone. Again, i think you can squeeze 2 more otos in there

If you go with the platties i'd carefully watch the male nad have something to put him in just in case he decides to go crazy and attack the platties :)

ill ask my lfs and see if they have any femals, they usually only have all males
so three platies, one apple snail, and my betta they i have now seem good
thanks for the help :D

imo femlae betta community tanks are a LOT of fun :D the feamles are generally very cute even though they dont' have the long flowy fins like the male. and they're also a lot tougher than you think! :flex: full of personality too
