How many fish would a ten gallon tank hold? Not big fish but little ones like my molly, platies, guppie..etc.. . The reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking about either saving up or asking for a 10 gallon for christmas this year ^.^. My fish population is growing since my molly turned out to be pregnant when I bought it so I got a buy one get 15 free deal, so I figured it might be nice to expand their little neighbor hood and just using my 5 gallon to put the little frys in.

your current tank residents would be fine, and you could proably add 2-6 more, depending on what you choose, provided you have a good filter system. i keep five mollies (about 2 to 2.5 inches each), 4 1-inch Panda cories, and 1 1.5-inch Reticulated cory in my 10 gal. plus the occasional fry. works well, and everyone has room to move. keeping the 5 gal for fry is an excellent idea, by the way.

i have 10 fish in my 10 gallon(platy, molly, sword, 3 cories, 3 neons, and 1 baby gourami) so according to 1 inch per fish rule, i'm overstocked but my fish seem happy and have enough space for now. i may have to upgrade later. so you can get a few more livebearers if you wish or cories or a school of tetras
