I've been debating between three possible scenarios for my new ten gallon. Once the hood arrives I will be able to start cycling it. I intend to have it heavily planted with mopani wood. I've already purchased pieces with smooth surfaces so fins getting caught won't be an issue. The ideas are as follows.
A divided betta tank, no idea how I might do this with a filter and a divider so suggestions are welcome. I'd also be doing a betta rescue if I go with this option. There are always betta at petco that I see in need of proper rehabilitation and care and I'm willing to take on the task of nursing them back to health.
Small community tank. (Meh)
Or, and one I've been tempted to do since I started on the site, is purchase a giant betta and have him in the tank alone. Possible additions would maybe be snails or corydora, but this would be a long shot as we know most betta won't tolerate tank mates.
Please help me decide if you have experience doing these. As a sidenote, a betta sorority is out of the question as I don't have the experience necessary to attempt such a thing.
