hi all

with my current aquarium (rio 180) the water level has to be pretty high to ensure the filtration system, pump and heater work as required i.e. all basically covered with water. if i wanted to 1/2 or 2/3 fill another aquarium of similar size with water (to leave a viewable section above water for newts etc) how do i go about installation of the filtration, pump and heater given that the water level is lower? i like the fully enclosed juwel system but i'm assuming i can't just turn this on its side, so what's the most sensible approach?

External filter?

i know the fluval u series can be fitted on their sides so i dont see why other internals shouldnt be able to be aswel.

Depending how much water you had a U2/U3 could be a good idea, after all they're designed with that in mind.

thanks, i'll check the u2/u3 out. i don't think the juwel system i have can be mounted sideways as the top filter would be prone to falling out (nothing holds it in) so hopefully the u2/u3 is designed differently.
