juwel rio 400

Hi,   I've just bought a new Juwel Rio 400 (online). One of the lights arrived with it's end broken ;(, BUT the plastic that pretends to be a lid is so thin, flexible and disturbing (when opening) to the fish that I'm looking to modify it. Has anyone done this in the past please to give me ideas...
