May I suggest that in future, if you wish to enter a fish you don't own but sometimes care for, you don't mention anything about not owning it? Then no one knows any different and everyone is happy :)
I believe they're also often bred for meat on the continent, but some 'unsavoury' UK dealers buy them up at meat prices, ship them over here then sell them on as perfect horses for novices... :(
Right, I'm gonna get in quick as usually once someone else has posted an entry I think 'what's the point, theirs is much better'!
here goes...
Can I post a verification tomorrow as their lights have gone off and I don't want to wake them up again :p
Really? I've never read that.
My barbs have lived happily with gouramis since last year. The only conflict I've ever witnessed is the gouramis occasionally chasing the barbs when they're feeling particularly grumpy. NEVER the other way around. And I spend a lot of time watching my fish... :D
Sorry to disagree, but in terms of a firemouth etc I would think the tank is too small. The convict and jewel are smaller but there's a strong risk they would attack your barbs.
Rams etc would probably be fine :)
I like this. As it's a fish forum is it not fairly obvious it should be aquarium livestock anyway? Maybe just add something in the rules post about it being limited to aquatic livestock, but stick with just 'livestock' as the title?
When are you thinking of POTM being stopped? My stupid cats...
Despite forever entering my cats into POTM, I'd support this too. I'd also support a streamlining of the sections eg various pet sections. Yes, I know it was only recently expanded, but I'm not sure how much use they're all getting, and if they are needed?
I was unnecessarily flippant and I did regret that but was too late to edit.
I do still object to the rudeness of attitude shown by the OP to other posters though.
I do also suspect that the OP is not entirely genuine....
Wow. Welcome to the forum. You may like to take some time reading other peoples posts to get an idea of the generally accepted etiquette.
ps - filters are about removing fish waste, nothing to do with the lungs. I presume your bettas do produce waste, or do they not live long enough for that?
No, I think it was my fish that are apparently too common to be entered in a competition. Sorry, hadn't realised there were rules about rarity of the fish, my mistake.
Shame, I'm really proud of my tigers, and thought that photo was a worthy entry.
Shaddex - you haven't deleted your photo have...
I would *suspect* that if you turn the temp on the heater lower than you want, then you would have no problems. With an external filter the only thing to have any impact on the heater is the temp of the water flowing through so it may overheat expecting the warmer water to spread (and therefore...
6 is a good number, and sand is preferable as the cories will sift through it
It's quite easy to change - just a few pounds for some sand and an hour or so of your time.
Your tank would be fine with 6 and a few other fish in the upper levels.
^ hmph. they both beat me.
Is there any...
Sorry but the tiger barbs are not suitable for your tank - they are best in a bigger group (eg I have 12) and need more space than a 54 litre can offer.
Cardinal tetra and a honey gourami could both work well - I'm not sure on the cherry barbs size/compatability wise. The cardinal and cherry...
I'm about 5 miles from you, I really want this, would be happy to pay that price, but am desperately thinking of where I could put it. Sadly I don't think I'll come up with an answer in time... :(
