    Nerite snail... dying??

I did several water changes to change the water then popped in a small filter full of carbon and ran that for several days before getting the snail. Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk

    Nerite snail... dying??

So, not that long ago I posted about buying a nerite snail from the local petshop where the others were dead or dying but.... I wanted to give him a chance. The first day he zipped around eating everything in sight. After that he slowed down but he'd more or less be in a different spot every...

Molly chasing tail? has white spot

I've had great results in the past with with spot treatment. That should work well for you. Your mollies would really benefit from a larger tank, 20 liters is much too small for mollies. Overcrowding and stress from confined quarters can weaken them and make them more susceptible to catching...

    New sad snail

My tank is recovering after meds for months, the meds have been cleared and my remaining plants cut back but thriving. I'll have to check my GH test to see if its still valid, I can't even remember the last time I tested that. My test may have expired. Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk

Ooo thanks! That sounds like good advice. I will try algae wafers first. I should be able to grow algae im the sun too. Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk

    New sad snail

Recently had to give up and admit defeat after a long battle with velvet. My two remaining occupants of my tank are two amano shrimp. I went to the pet shop the other day looking for more shrimp to add (they had none)... but spotted a tank with dead or dying nerrite snails. I bought the...

I think my Betta is sick, but I don't know how to treat him.

Adding a link I came across suggesting something called cauliflower disease... something I've never heard of. https://www.reddit.com/r/bettafish/comments/4a8bfx/is_this_fungus/ Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk

No, fungus is definitely more fuzzy. I'd be more concerned that what you describe is either an infection or tumor. I'm not experienced with those. Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk

I think my Betta is sick, but I don't know how to treat him.

It is not ick. Ick is a peppering of white spots over the body the size of grains of salt. Is the growth white and furry? If so it is a fungus and fungus meds would help. Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk

    Betta cannot sink

I'm not an expert on fasting them, but you are still over feeding him. I'd keep fasting him though. Think of your betta's stomach as the size of his eye. He only needs to eat once a day. Presoaking pellets for a few minutes helps too. I usually feed about 4-5 pellets a day (my choice is...

    Starting over, sort of

That's about what I am thinking too. I was considering changing the substrate as well. Velvet was nasty! Everywhere I read recommended meds and said this was so common and eady to treat. I tried three different meds and during most of it a complete blackout and nothing touched it. I never...

    Starting over, sort of

So..... I battled impossible to cure velvet fir several months and had to give in and euthanize my remaining fish. I have just three amano shrimp that have survived. Even most of my plants had to go. I'm left with just some cut offs of anubias nana to regrow. I'm planning to rescape, after...

    Velvet

Update and further advice needed. I've been using meds to treat the velvet as well as blacking out the tank. My fish is clearly feeling a great deal better, but after 7 days the golden/rusty coating isn't gone yet. I changed the water this morning and redosed the meds. How long does it take...

    Velvet

Thanks. I have purchased a med for whitespot and velvet now so hopefully that does the job. It seems contained on only my one fish. There is something odd about her though. On top of the velvet, she has a couple whitish patches but they don't look like fungus or an injury. Sent from my...

Hmmm... the shop says I should use melafix for velvet but that doesn't sound right. They had nothing else that was right. I might have to order online. Do you think melafix will help? Pretty sure I heard its not right for bettas. Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk

    Velvet

In my however many years its been now keeping fish, none have ever had velvet before. But one seemed a bit off, still active, and I puzzled over it abs finally flashed a light and could see a hint of gold. Need a filter recommendation

My filter shows signs of being less effective so I do want to replace it before it dies on me. Its not so easy to rush out, where I am, and get the appropriate filter quickly if it goes. Thanks for all the suggestions, I will have a google fest looking them up. Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk

    Need a filter recommendation

My filter is quite old, old enough I don't remember what kind it is.... time to think about a replacement. I am looking for a recommendation of a hob filter. My tank is about 10 gallons and contains 1 female betta and 5 black neons. Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk

    New betta clamped dorsal

    New betta clamped dorsal

When my last betta died I decided to get black neons. Yesterday I spotted female bettas for the first time in ages so I got one. Yesterday my betta would go striped if I looked at her too long but would color when left alone. Today though she is stripey a lot and on and off clamping her...

Fin Rot That Won't Go Away.

Well, still battling the fin rot. His fins are quite short now. I think we are on our last ditch effort. Today I rescaped the tank entirely scrubbing all I can and completely changing the gravel in case there is something that bacteria is clinging to. At this point, it might be too late but I...

Fin Rot That Won't Go Away.

I managed some quick pictures afterall.  I did with and without the flash as it shows what I am talking about better.  Those dark edges on his fins don't actually come out right.  To the naked eye that tissue actually looks solid and not black like it looks in my photos... which makes me unsure...

Fin Rot That Won't Go Away.

Sorry, can't get a photo today will try tomorrow.   I change 50% of the water once a week, in the last 2 weeks I've changed 50% twice a week.  I vacuum the substrate.  Other than medication in this last two weeks I add the fluval Aqua Plus and EasyLife Profito for the plants.

Fin Rot That Won't Go Away.

For about two weeks now I've been battling fin rot.  He is a crown tail and the "ribbons" are gone and the rest of his tail looks thing or transparent.  There is still a good portion of his tail there but his top fin seems to be going.  I have been treating with Interpet Fungus and Fin Rot...

    Thinking Of Redecorating My Tank.

Maybe I should focus on nursing these plants? Mostly I hate how they are looking. They are in poor health despite I use fertilizer even slightly more than asked for. Maybe I need a different one.

    Somewhat Cloudy Tank

Yesterday I squeezed the gunk out of my filter sponges in tank water (in the bucket)... and today there is a bit of a cloud. Changed half the water again and have tested the water fir ammonia with the API liquid test kit and it is a clear solid yellow, so 0 ammonia. Is this anything to worry...

    Thinking Of Redecorating My Tank.

My anubias nana is actually not anchored, the roots are so long they easily can be covered leaving the thick bit above. Bogwood is a good idea, I've not done it in this tank before (had it in my big tank before I sold it all). I'm thinking more resin rocks or logs for hidey places.

    Thinking Of Redecorating My Tank.

Ever since we moved in the summer 2015, my tank has struggled... Or my plants rather. I'm a bit fed up now maintaining them and want to redecorate with just one anubias Nana (mature and a great size) and scrap all the rest (well keep the moss balls). My tank is a 10 gallon. Question, what...

Sick? ... Or Maybe Not, Not Sure.

His belly is bigger after eating, but it doesn't stay that way.  I feed him 4 Betta Bio Gold pellets (soaked beforehand).  I also fast him one day week... well.. I actually feed him daphnia that day and he decides to fast himself and the shrimp it is instead.  Also, the shrimps pellets sink and...

Sick? ... Or Maybe Not, Not Sure.

Here is the story. We moved about two weeks ago. Moving the tank was a success and the filter was kept wet and stayed cycled. My betta stressed put big time and took a few days to chill. But since has been "off". My betta physically looks perfect, eating fine. I thought maybe there was...

How To Move A Fish Tank?

That is reassuring.  I will be very careful. My old tank was a three foot tank, quite old as I bought it secondhand originally too.  I has never leaked or anything but I just have the feeling about it that the glass just isn't as thick as it might be made today... like my 10 gallon tank feels a...
