Yes the chemicals in the water will kill the good bacteria. Wash your filter out in a bucket of olt aqurium water, befoe you tip it away Steve

If it fits, put it in the cisternn on your toilet. Will get clean water everytime you flush the toilet. As long you dont mined tanned water in your toilet Steve

You cant remove the pipes from the filter, with out shutting the water valve. You may get the odd drip, but it will be fine. Rember to rinse the sponge and filter media in old tank water, no to damage the friendly bacteria with tap water Steve

We are all hear to help lol I would maybe think about big water changes, more than 50%, keep them levels down, whilest your filter matuers. If you know some one with an aquarium set up and running, see if you can pinch a little of the filter media, just a small amount. Rember to keep it...

I fill the canister with water. Shut the valve, fill the pipe with water. Connect it all back up in the tank. Turn it on, and open the valve. Works every time. Glad to see its up and running Steve

Watts is the amout of power a bulb uses. Lumans = the amount of light produced. In my view 2 8w bulbs will use 16watts of power. But still only produce the same amount of light. Sorry if not explained to well Steve

Rocks of beaches are not a very good idea. A lot of them will containe salt. Most important thing, drop a little acid, vinagar on them, if they fiz, get rid of them. If not they should be fine to use. Have a read of this...

One of the worst thing to cause ammonia. Is a rotting snail. With a couple of big water changes, and as long as your filer is cycled. Things should return to normal. Dont loose hart, i hate snails for that very reason. Steve

Ok thanks for everyones help. Everything ok, well ceiling fell down, plasterboards fell off walls. Oak floor is all shapes. Mess everywhere. But whats insurance for lol. I work in the building trade, so easy to fix. Just not so easy on the wallet lol. Steve
