As the title suggests. Aqua Tom has kindly helped me out by supplying some mature media (ceramic).which I expect will arrive in the next few days.
I did ask Tom this question however he recommended I ask the opinion of all.
I'm trying to make the most of the mature media so I'm wondering if I...
I gave up on the fish less cycle as there were no changes in mine. Doing a fish in cycle now with a pair of kribs. Changing the water constantly is a pain however I've a media donation coming soon thanks to a helpful forum member. Hopefully that should get me up and running

I'm sure I read you should turn the heat up slightly to encourage breeding. The tank may be slightly warmer next to the heater? Maybe that's something to do with it?? Or am I talking nonsense :hyper:
I'm running two tetra tec ex1200's so they have the standard ceramics, floss and bio balls.
I'm not sure exactly what I would need so I'm hoping someone can advise
:good:
That would be great mate any help much appreciated
I'd buy. Thought about this myself and found it strange why no one was doing it. Overheads may be too much. How many filters would you need to have running to cope with the demand......? I suppose they would need hundreds of filters running on fish less cycles constantly
I have tescos play sand in mine. It's great and it was easy cleaned ( they must clean it well before bagging it)
I got one bag from smyths toy store. That sand is terrible, the stuff that comes out when cleaning is ridiculous. Avoid at all costs!

Set my tetratec ex1200 up with one the other week. It works perfect and there's no unsightly heater in the tank. Cost £30 of eBay.
Buy one. Just make sure the hose from your external filter is the right size
I hate gouramis. I had one years ago, I took it from a friend as it was terrorising all their fish. I had to put it in with my 8 - 10 " green terror and a fire eel. It bullied my green terror and bit lumps out of it. The gourami was only about 2" max too  put me off them for life
Just can't wait to get it going. The kids are doing my head in. My two year old wants "baby fishes" and my 6 year old wants jelly fish an octopus and a great white shark
Sorry missed this earlier.
I set the tank up maybe 2 weeks ago and dosed with ammonia. I possibly overdosed as I had nothing at hand to measure with.
Didn't realise I had to dechlorinator the water first though so only done that approx 3 days ago. Am I just being too impatient?
Checked the tap water, again maybe a slight tint of orange but I'd def say yellow therefore nitrate = 0
Is this bad? Where do I go from here?
Just took out approx 40% of the water, added 3 caps of prime and filling it back up
