I appreciate the response, Donya.  I actually haven't even attempted it again yet.  Haven't found the perfect time.  As of right now my plate coral is just resting in the perfect crevice/ledge combo.  As long as the hermits and urchins leave it alone it should be fine.  The acros, they can't...

the more I think about it today, the more I'm leaning towards a more stable arrangement vs the open passages.  Maybe it is best I have this episode now when Im dealing with small frags, and not fully established, large corals? 

thanks for the vote of confidence, nin.  As I look at the tank this morning, I've pretty much decided I may have to just sacrifice the large passages, and have a more 'solid' arrangement.   I'll see if I can tackle this task today and attempt the holdfast again.

I am far from an expert (possibly the furtherest from it) but I thought I've read somewhere before that a sea hare has a very short life expectancy and its not uncommon for them to lay eggs when they know the end is near.  It is quite possible it has ran its course. I hope Im wrong.

Sadly, that magnificent  fish didn't make the night.  Feels so wrong having to remove such an amazing fish that just yesterday seemed to be flourishing along with the rest of his mates.  Sorry everyone.

I really dont see how the fish can possibly turn around and make a recovery at this point.  I have a new theory as to what happened.  I ended up going through another battle with hair algae prior to me adding fish.  Some more CUC, lighting adjustments, and chaeto in the 'fuge and the stuff...

I actually think it might have a problem with constipation???  He has some stringy poop hanging, and noticed that a couple days ago as well but never thought anything of it....  (not saying he's had poop hanging for two days, but two separate times)  Is it possible he is sick and just is trying...

I should also add that it appears to be healthy, no visible signs of sickness.

ReMz,if you are an experienced hobbyist, then perhaps a nano would be just fine?  I've read that at least a 55 gallon tank is recommended for rookies, due to less forgiving water conditions in the smaller volumes.  Makes sense, but if you are experienced at monitoring and dealing with water...
