    Bigtuna's Ocean In A Wall

Im in the process of "acclimating" the new lights so for now they max out at 75% intensity. Other than my bubble coral, the rest of the corals are reacting great to the new lights. The horn coral especially. Its like you can watch the thing grow. Same with a couple other sps. The price on them...

    Bigtuna's Ocean In A Wall

So I decided to take some pictures with my phone.  I ended up changing a lot of my fish.  My sister lost her beloved Sailfin and I feared the aggression that would take place when I finally got my Achilles I so badly been after so I gave it to her.  I was on the verge of ordering a rather large...

    Bigtuna's Ocean In A Wall

So much has changed with this tank, I desperately need to update (with photos). I hope to get to that soon. My livestock has changed quite a bit since last time I've posted,so there's lots to catch up on.

    Brillys 48 X 18 X 24 Reef

Love the zoa colonies! I've recently discovered a whole new world of reefing and it's opened up my eyes to all sorts of things. High end fish for considerably less than lfs pricing, custom tank builders at incredible prices, and what I might be most excited about - high end zoas. I can't...

    Donya's 55-Gallon

I have a mobile anemone as well. He seems to be looking for trouble. At first he found a peaceful home away from any lps neighbors but for whatever reason moved into bubble coral territory so I had to intervene. Shortly after he moved above a hammer and kind of close to the bubble. Not much...

    Bigtuna's Ocean In A Wall

I appreciate the response, Donya.  I actually haven't even attempted it again yet.  Haven't found the perfect time.  As of right now my plate coral is just resting in the perfect crevice/ledge combo.  As long as the hermits and urchins leave it alone it should be fine.  The acros, they can't...

    Bigtuna's Ocean In A Wall

the more I think about it today, the more I'm leaning towards a more stable arrangement vs the open passages.  Maybe it is best I have this episode now when Im dealing with small frags, and not fully established, large corals?

    Bigtuna's Ocean In A Wall

thanks for the vote of confidence, nin.  As I look at the tank this morning, I've pretty much decided I may have to just sacrifice the large passages, and have a more 'solid' arrangement.   I'll see if I can tackle this task today and attempt the holdfast again.

    Bigtuna's Ocean In A Wall

Last night was my first ever experience using Instant Ocean's Holdfast.  I have a Monti plate coral I wanted to attach to a rock face, and I seemed to be having quite a bit of difficulty bonding it.  On my third or fourth attempt, after getting a little on the tired side. I was brushed by an...

    Is My Sea Hare Dying?

I am far from an expert (possibly the furtherest from it) but I thought I've read somewhere before that a sea hare has a very short life expectancy and its not uncommon for them to lay eggs when they know the end is near.  It is quite possible it has ran its course. I hope Im wrong.

    Last Film You Saw Thread

Just watched Prisoners the other night.  I thought it was a great movie.  I have a bad habit of looking on IMDB message boards after each movie I watch and it seems like they all just pick apart plot holes and are critical of every aspect of every film. Maybe I just dont know what Im talking...

    Bigtuna's Ocean In A Wall

Sadly, that magnificent  fish didn't make the night.  Feels so wrong having to remove such an amazing fish that just yesterday seemed to be flourishing along with the rest of his mates.  Sorry everyone.

    Bigtuna's Ocean In A Wall

I really dont see how the fish can possibly turn around and make a recovery at this point.  I have a new theory as to what happened.  I ended up going through another battle with hair algae prior to me adding fish.  Some more CUC, lighting adjustments, and chaeto in the 'fuge and the stuff...

    Bigtuna's Ocean In A Wall

I actually think it might have a problem with constipation???  He has some stringy poop hanging, and noticed that a couple days ago as well but never thought anything of it....  (not saying he's had poop hanging for two days, but two separate times)  Is it possible he is sick and just is trying...

    Bigtuna's Ocean In A Wall

out of nowhere my blondie is doing very poorly.  I came home from work to see him pointed vertically towards the sand inside a cave.  I didn't even think he was alive.  I dumped a healthy dose of mysis and brine in there (which he has been feeding very well on) and no response.  I tried to...

Does Anyone Here Have A Ps4?

Im a Ps4 user.  I really look forward to the exclusive Sony MLB the Show title every year.  That really is the kicker for what console I use.  When I've been able to find the time I try to get into Assassins Creed BF, which isn't my genre of game typically.  Im very impressed, as I typically...

    Bigtuna's Ocean In A Wall

ReMz,if you are an experienced hobbyist, then perhaps a nano would be just fine?  I've read that at least a 55 gallon tank is recommended for rookies, due to less forgiving water conditions in the smaller volumes.  Makes sense, but if you are experienced at monitoring and dealing with water...
