Hi i am new to marine fish i am looking to set up a reef tank in the next few months. my tank will be about 200 litres i am finding all the different set-ups confusing so i was wondering if anyone has a reef tank if they could explain all the hardware they have and what job it is doing...

my fish died like this i used a old Tupperware and partially buried it, it got in ok but never came out

coconut shells make good caves and will cost about 30p cut the top off and then split them down the middle. give them a wash and hey presto 1 or 2 caves and if you cut them right you can stack them up to.

i found some on ebay that were about 50-60 miles away but i only have a small volvo and a vw and you would have trouble getting the lid in the car let alone the tank and stand

go to your lock craft shop and get a pack of marine blue card and stick it to the back it looks amazing for a £1

you may want to change the positions of the outlets on the fx5 so that it blows the water across the tank or down grade the filter to a fluval 406 as the fx5 may be to powerful for you aquarium

I'm pretty sure your fish will be ok but stop an think how it got in there. if a slug can get in all sorts may be able to get in so i would think about some sort of covering. i wold suggest cleaning your filter in the morning in case there was anything, the filter would of take it out over night.

something may of fell in when adding plants or it may of been hidden on a plant if it isn't causing a problem don't worry as you may find it when you clean your filter

i would remove the fish from the tank and take as many detailed photos of the fish and then take them to a local fish retailer and they will advise you on what may be needed

i would say individual pumps is better as if you have one and it fails you have an issue but individual may be mor expensive so it is a personal preference

there should be no problem if the building or structure is sound but i would check first and if you are unsure place the tank near a strong place in the house and place it on the flooring sleepers as this is the strongest place
