    Stocking For A 180 Gallon

Hello all! I currently have a 220 gallon outdoor pond. However, my landscaper made an error when creating it so I cannot fill it all the way. As a result, it's actually filled with approx 180 gallons of water. There is much less swimming space than a "traditional" 180 gallon tank since I...

    Need Help With Glofish/danio Fry

I have an outdoor pond with Tinfoil Barbs, Glofish and Zebra Danios. I know that my Glofish and Danios spawn frequently but the fry never survive as they are readily eaten by the adults. However, today I found one lone Glofish/Danio fry. It just started free-swimming so it's probably only...

    Fish Mating And Spawning Behavior?

MBOU, Thanks for the reply. Yes, it is nice living in a warm climate. I reside in Florida, USA. It's warm enough here for tropical fish most of the time but we get a few cold nights that require a pond heater or even a thermal blanket since I have tropicals. I put a lot of work into the...

    Fish Mating And Spawning Behavior?

I have 3 tinfoil barbs in a small outdoor pond. I've noticed recently during feeding time (don't know what they do other times cause I can't see them) that while circling for the food they will brush up against each others rear ends. They sort of push their tails into each other for a second...

    Healthy Fish Again :)

It will be cool to see him swimming around in his new home. I'm sure he's grateful for you rescuing him. Did the pet store just give him to you? Or did they charge the feeder price for him?

What To Feed My Tinfoil Barbs

Mr Spoon, Okay, thanks for the info. I will definitely try the peas and see what they think. I'm sure they will love it. They seem to love food in general. My tinfoils are about 4 inches. So would you say a minimum feeding for them (just to stay alive) would be something like 4 flakes each...

What To Feed My Tinfoil Barbs

Mr Spoon, You get deshelled peas in a pet store or a grocery store? Is that just a raw pea? What other vegetables can I feed the tinfoils? I would like to vary their diet and see what they like but I'm fearful I will feed them something that may harm them.

What To Feed My Tinfoil Barbs

They are in a 220 gallon outdoor pond. They have eaten most all my pond snails and they seem to be tired of the duckweed in the pond. So they have been relying more on me to feed them flakes and pellets. But I really have no idea how much to give them. I could dump the whole bottle of flakes...

What To Feed My Tinfoil Barbs

I recently purchased 3 small tinfoil barbs. They are presently around 4 inches long. I was wondering how many flakes or pellets to feed each fish? I've read about the two minute rule but that really doesn't help me. Just wondering what a standard size meal would be for a 4 inch fish. Also...

    Question About Tinfoil Barbs

Thanks! The tinfoils seem to be enjoying it. They have discovered lots of new foods they weren't getting in the pet store. Pond snails, duck weed, etc. I'm just hoping these are the large version of tinfoil barb. They certainly eat enough to fill out a 15 inch frame.

    Question About Tinfoil Barbs

    Question About Tinfoil Barbs

I recently purchased 3 fish that the pet store listed as "tin foil barbs". This is the only photo I have of them, sorry it is not better. But can someone advise me on whether I have the Barbonymus altus or the Schwanenfeldii? Thanks!
