Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy with work and other bogus stuff... Thanks for all your guys opinions btw, and for the record I have kept a BGK before but it never got very big even though I had it about a year and a half (then it was given a new home) I'll be keeping the BGK...

Indeed I am, good memory! I'm not sure about channa, but I'd amagine I could have one or two ordered in. What are they like to keep? :) Also, those Keyhole Cichlids are doing great, and when I ask people which one they like most they're always a favourite! I'll have to upload some pics of...
  3. The Noob Fish Shepherd

    New 720 Litre

I spent about a third of a year in my bedroom which is 4m by 3m (I am 1.8m), after I ruptured 2 ligaments in my knee and couldnt' walk for months, and I found the boredom quickly turned to relaxation :) The BGK is currently in a bare tank at the pet store after it outgrew its previous home. I...

    New 720 Litre

Fair deuce, I will reluctantly rule out BGK... I'm not so keen on oscars but thanks for suggesting something. Will a Bichir work? Btw, I'll be using a Fluval FX5 if thats sufficient -_-

    Faulty Swim Bladder. Any Hope?

I heard putting a bit of salt in with the fish helps
  6. The Noob Fish Shepherd

    New 720 Litre

Does that rule apply if the fish isn't a very active swimmer, like a BGK?
  7. The Noob Fish Shepherd

    New 720 Litre

So I'm getting a new tank thats 150cm x 60cm x 80cm, but I'm not sure what to do with it... I'd like something big like an Arowana or Black Ghost Knifefish. What would you guys put in a tank with these dimensions? :S Also, if anyone has any photos of well furnished 200+ gallon tanks I will...

What about Shrimp? They look too flimsy to kill anything :)
  9. The Noob Fish Shepherd

    Freshwater Crayfish

Dang, I always thought Crayfish were scavengers. I was hoping to put one in with Zebra Loaches, Keyhole Cichlids, Glass Catfishes and Bristlenose Plecos but I can foresee the gentle glass guys getting beaten up on... :/ Out of curiousity, how big do Freshwater Crayfishes grow to?? I can't...

    Freshwater Crayfish

Anyone know if you can keep any species of crayfish or anything similar that would look out of place in a community tank? :S

Public Flogging<<<Now With Newbie Fish Pictures

Dang that sucks about your Redtail, hopefully she/he is in a better place now  Would it cheer you up if I told you that those Keyholes you persuaded me to get are king and queen of that aquarium and seem really happy? :/

    Top Dwelling Fish

I'm after fish that are quite shy, but won't stay hidden for too long, so when you look into the aquarium it looks like theres no movement inside. But after a few moments you notice all the fishes modestly going about their business. This is why I really like the Keyholes Nelly recommended! :D...

    Smelly Tank!

This would make sense, I've been feeding them quite alot... who would have thought it would be the cleaning fishes that stank out the tank!! "And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!" :sly: I did a big water change and it helped substantially! Up until...

    Smelly Tank!

It smells like the water I used to catch tadpoles from. And if I was to describe it, I would say it smells like rotting wood thats been boiled with a hint of grandpa, if that helps... Does your fish tank give off an odor too?? :S

    Loner Fish

Sorry for the late reply, when I find a new fish I'm interested in I go on this mass hunt to get as much information on it as I can and loose track of time! :X I'm all the way over in New Zealand, so the poor fish have to go on a huge mission to get shipped here. My 4 Zebra Loaches cost $88...

    Loner Fish

I've called up my local and they can order in a breeding pair of either of the two fish you first mentioned if I so choose! :hyper: I really like that Hoplo Catfish, kind of reminds me of my Banjo Catfish! You've got a keen eye for good looking fish outside the norm, I can't believe I don't...

All My Fish Died - Starting Over!

I heard bleaching stuff is the worst thing you can do for your fish! Someone may want to disagree with me though... I wouldn't do anything until after doing some research and gotten some answers. :/

    Dan-Cr4 Fishless Cycle

Um, I guess one obvious piece of advice I could give you is to make all changes slowly. From what I've learnt, more often than not its the change in conditions that kicks up drama rather than unfavourable conditions. Good luck!

Cycling A 5-Gallon With Fish Food

I don't know much, but when I cycled my tank I did not put much fish food in (Maybe 2 grains every 3 or 4 days) because I didn't want it to rot or result in an algae explosion... Also, tank temperature varies between fish species. Depending on what your planning on keeping, you can easily...

    Plant Trouble!i!

Also other things you may be interested in: -There is very good gas exchange between the water and the air -I have 3 BN Pleco, I'm not sure if their gnawing habits involve the plants though. Plant Trouble!i!

What is your lighting level, and what are you growing? Lighting hadn't even crossed my mind even though my light is really old (maybe as old as 10 years)! It still seems really bright though. I wait until 10am until I turn it on, and then turn it off again around 6pm because the room catches...

A Natural Way Of Getting Rid Of Snails Or If Need Be A Chemical

I don't know if you want anymore fish in your tank, but Zebra and Yoyo Loaches are both exeptional at hunting snails... Theyre so good at hunting them, I add snails to the aquarium and they seem to love them! If you don't like that idea, there are also some chemicals you can add to get rid of...

I've heard of people having their plants grow TOO fast, but mine seem to be growing exeptionally slow, if al all!! When I bought them I even asked for the fastest growing folliage available, what could be goin' on?? I even used CO2 and nutrient supplements!! I also have healthy fish if thats any...
