Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy with work and other bogus stuff... Thanks for all your guys opinions btw, and for the record I have kept a BGK before but it never got very big even though I had it about a year and a half (then it was given a new home) :blink: I'll be keeping the BGK...

So I'm getting a new tank thats 150cm x 60cm x 80cm, but I'm not sure what to do with it... I'd like something big like an Arowana or Black Ghost Knifefish. What would you guys put in a tank with these dimensions? :S Also, if anyone has any photos of well furnished 200+ gallon tanks I will...

Dang, I always thought Crayfish were scavengers. I was hoping to put one in with Zebra Loaches, Keyhole Cichlids, Glass Catfishes and Bristlenose Plecos but I can foresee the gentle glass guys getting beaten up on... :/ Out of curiousity, how big do Freshwater Crayfishes grow to?? I can't...

Anyone know if you can keep any species of crayfish or anything similar that would look out of place in a community tank? :S

I'm after fish that are quite shy, but won't stay hidden for too long, so when you look into the aquarium it looks like theres no movement inside. But after a few moments you notice all the fishes modestly going about their business. This is why I really like the Keyholes Nelly recommended! :D...

Hey guys, I'm looking to get some top dwelling fish for my 37galUS aquarium to make it look more alive. -_- At the moment it has 5 Ghost Catfish, 4 Zebra Loaches, 3 Bristlenose Plecos and 2 Keyhole Cichlids. Anyone got any ideas?? :hey:

It smells like the water I used to catch tadpoles from. And if I was to describe it, I would say it smells like rotting wood thats been boiled with a hint of grandpa, if that helps... :sick: Does your fish tank give off an odor too?? :S

My tank is giving off an interesting aroma, If you want me to describe it I can try. Although its not overpowering, I'm a little concerned... Is this normal (The smell, not me being worried)? Is there anything I can or should do about it?? :crazy:

Sorry for the late reply, when I find a new fish I'm interested in I go on this mass hunt to get as much information on it as I can and loose track of time! :X I'm all the way over in New Zealand, so the poor fish have to go on a huge mission to get shipped here. My 4 Zebra Loaches cost $88...

I heard bleaching stuff is the worst thing you can do for your fish! Someone may want to disagree with me though... I wouldn't do anything until after doing some research and gotten some answers. :/

Um, I guess one obvious piece of advice I could give you is to make all changes slowly. From what I've learnt, more often than not its the change in conditions that kicks up drama rather than unfavourable conditions. Good luck!

I don't know much, but when I cycled my tank I did not put much fish food in (Maybe 2 grains every 3 or 4 days) because I didn't want it to rot or result in an algae explosion... Also, tank temperature varies between fish species. Depending on what your planning on keeping, you can easily...

Also other things you may be interested in: -There is very good gas exchange between the water and the air -I have 3 BN Pleco, I'm not sure if their gnawing habits involve the plants though. I haven't seen them near the plants -I just exterminated alooot of algae (Well, the BN Pleco did) a week...

What is your lighting level, and what are you growing? Lighting hadn't even crossed my mind even though my light is really old (maybe as old as 10 years)! It still seems really bright though. I wait until 10am until I turn it on, and then turn it off again around 6pm because the room catches...

I don't know if you want anymore fish in your tank, but Zebra and Yoyo Loaches are both exeptional at hunting snails... Theyre so good at hunting them, I add snails to the aquarium and they seem to love them! If you don't like that idea, there are also some chemicals you can add to get rid of...

It'd be cool to have brine shrimp and water fleas in one of these... ;)

I've heard of people having their plants grow TOO fast, but mine seem to be growing exeptionally slow, if al all!! When I bought them I even asked for the fastest growing folliage available, what could be goin' on?? I even used CO2 and nutrient supplements!! I also have healthy fish if thats any...

Put in no more than they will eat in 5min in my opinion. Also, make sure you rinse anything before putting it into the tank. :hyper:

If your worried about the Glass Catfish beating on the shrimp you need not worry... as an avid Glass Catfish fan, I dont think these dudes could fight their way out of a soggy paper bag to save themselves :/
