if you want a fish that looks like a Front and is still from Lake Tanganyika you have two options other than Malawi which seems to be pushed around here. Your 1st choice is: Neolamprologus tretocephalus Your 2nd choice is: Neolamprologus sexfasciatus

    Can I keep Frontosa with...?

unless you can provide the space for at least 5 fronts then I wouldnt bother. Fronts are colony fish, they dont like being loners, they are much happier when they share a tank with others of their kind. I think most mbuna would be to aggressive and to hyper, fronts are laid back and like sublte...

Once dry put a good bead of silicone on the inside bottom of the tank then lay the acrylic in. You want to...

    Territory Dispute

Thank you all for the great comments... well, this Leleupi is loosing this fight for territory. He is starting to realize that he is no match for the Boulengeri. That Boulengeri has a big enough mouth to fit the head of the Leleupi in.

    Territory Dispute

A territory dispute between a Lepidiolamprologus Boulengeri and a Neolamprologus Leleupi. So far the battle over this territory under this fake plant has been a draw. The L. Boulengeri is getting greedy for territory though, he controls about 3/4 of the tank floor but doesnt really harrass...

gaya1111 Thanx for the comments... enchanted the reason I asked what the PVC is for is because canister filters arent really designed for a high head which you might be creating by plumbing it with pvc

"How" do you fill up your aquarium?

To drain I ran some plumbing in my basement that comes tru the floor into the base cabinet of my built in stand. This drains directly into the laundry sink. When cleaning my tank (all on first floor) I just connect my hose to the connection in the cabinet and siphon the water from the tanks...

Catfish sinker pellets - can they harm cichlids?

I think assumptions can be an enemy of everyone, we all make the mistake... If I remember correctly, there are also some Malawi (not mbuna) cichlids that do better on a high protien diet. Since I prefer Tanganyikan, I am not to sure though.

Does any one here know the exact dimensions of a 40 gallon breeder tank including the trim? The standard 36x18x16 does not include the trim, I am assuming that the trim adds 1/2" overall to the tank dimension but I need to know for sure.

well in a 4' 55 gallon tank you have alot of options. it really depends on which african lake that you want to go with. The two most popular are Lake Malawi and Lake Tanganyika I am a Lake Tanganyika fan so if it were my tank I would probably go with: - a group of Lamprologus Ocellatus...
