Why not do a biotope, n amazonian theme, where they come from, slightly soft acidic water of around 6.5? Also the cardinals are more colourfull but the neons are tougher as the majority are now tank bred itn the trade so are more acclimatised to local water conditions

Unfotrunately rays eat crustacae and molluscs in the wild so your snails will be crunchy ordeaves to your ray. A suitable algae cleaner for your tank if it is hair algae would be prochilodus, but with rays im afraid 99% of the time its get the old algae magnet out and scrub

That whisker is actually one of its nostils! Usually knives are quite good at regenerating their damaged parts and this shouldnt pose him a problem in the long run

THis is sooooooo common amongst knife fish! They do tend to switch off for periods of time, but it is mostly the BGK which rest in odd postions, not surprising really when you watch how active they can be!

They can be bred, but due to their shyness and need to be in small groups, along with their rarity and desiraility (giving a high price tag) it makes it difficult to obtain the desired number of fish!
