Had this before, wiped out most of my tank. Anyone know what it is/Cure? I've got about ~30 adolescent fry, about 10 adult guppy and another ~30 very young fry. I've heard Mardel Coppersafe can do the trick, but where do i source this in the UK? :(

SUppose its good, photosynthesis = rapid = growth? Altnerantively it could just be your filter is making alot of bubbles which are sticking to the plant leaves/surfaces. Thats whats happeneing in my tank (low light .7WPG)

Ive had better experience leaving them in the tank than breeding tanks, the babys seem to explore and find their way back to the mother which ends badly :( good luck with the babies!

Immediately before birth they usually get quite grouchy/angry and will chase fish away. They will seek a lonely place. They seem to get contractions and they can swim backwards, bend their tail as if they're tensing etc. Then POP.... their bottom looks slightly pointed and out comes the babys...

I had to wait about 6-8weeks before my fry we're able to go into the big tank. It only houses a few adult guppys (and a pleco - Who seems to be vegetarian...lol). Yep its a long wait, but not worth risking early.

Isnt it a good idea to have some at the bottom? I know my babys will kick up the food and then eat some if i havent fed them for a few hours. Seems like it was a good idea to me to keep atleast a little on the base. My tanks large so i dont think it affects water quality much, could be wrong...

I imagine birth can be pretty traumatic, it is for humans(bit of a jump comparing them but hey). No sign of disease so id put it down to birth/old age perhaps.

Yeah i might release them. Just im not sure if they will grow out of it and get a full tail? As for the "wiggly" swimmers, they may be normal - I know males swim different to females fromwhat ive seen anyway?

Well i could probably set up a divide to seperate them, im not sure when females can become pregnant? However i feel bad doing either one (passing them onto unsuspecting customers? or having to end its life). I suppose it could grow out of it? I dont really know. I notice some male guppys...

Oh dear, i thought they would never manage to choke?! Perhaps the worms expanded (osmosis?) after being in the tank? Perhaps not, just a thought. I was planning to feed mine bloodworm, i guess ill be extra cautious. Thanks for the warning anyhow. RIP fishy!

Have a few babies, it seems some are really shaking their bum's when they swim and another 1 has a pointy tail fin. I dont believe the pointy fin is due to disease/clumping i suspect its just deformed. They are around 2 weeks old, so quite small. What do i do, let them grow up? Release them...

Yeah the spare tank would be for babies untill they grow, and possibly a hospital/quarentine tank. However running a quarentine tank sounds veyr difficult if you dont keep it full of fish constantly (filter bacteria die...then must be cycled again!). Hmm tricky one, i could get the tank seeded...

My scratched/limescaled tank is glass. My acrylic tank is sat empty at the moment, although limescale is on the filter, guess i can dip that in vinegar for a few days i suppose?

Ok an update is needed! Sadly i lost the blue male guppy, his tail fin just seems to disintegrated and his swimming wall effected then i found him RIP. The pleco's fins have regrown nicely, his redness has gone and white spot on all fish seems to have cleared up(WS3 - Melachite green i believe...

Well whiteish sand was cheap, so i got that. Bright tank, but poop is easily visable and with a pleco who likes to tank long easily removed pieces and turn them into poop dust... its a pain. However ill go with light, i guess i should be forced to clear the poop up for good water quality...

Both shops we're out of white spot, so i'm waiting. Checked the fish and i cant see any whitespots on any of the guppies, thepleco however is covered in white dots. Could it be anything other than white spot as i really am tight on cash(student) and £4 on a pointless medicine + Stress to fish...
