I have tried the pair only in a 29 gallon tank, but the male was attacking the female so I placed them back in the community tank. The male leleupi is the biggest fish in the tank, so i m guessing he ate the fry, because no other fish venture into the leleupi section of the tank. i just check...

Does anybody here know how to breed Leleupi? I have a breeding trio, but their fry never make it past a week, they just disappear. they have bred 3 times, currently they are on their 4th try. Is there anything i can do to save some fry?

Anomalochromis thomasi, as was stated above are very peaceful. Also Neolamprologus multifasciatus are not very aggressive, but that all dpeneds on the specific temperament of the fish you buy.

So i have 6 Exodons and 4 leleupi, i have had them in same tank for many months now, and they are perfectly fine with each other. i was wondering if anyone here knows any other colorful cichlids with the same behavior and water requirements as the lelupi, because i want to stock another tank...

Most mbunas will dig up the plants, so it would be pointless, unless you put rocks around the base of the plant, so they have no way to dig around it and they cant rip it out. you will need some tough plants for that.

I added these fish about 6 months ago, the male krib (4 1/2" male, 1" female) i have had in there for 2 years though. Only the convicts are new. I guess I might have to just watch and wait it out to see if any of the eggs or fry will survive. The africans havent shown their brutal side YET...

Hahaha so he was lazy because some misinformed people gave me the wrong info, i was kinda getting tired of scarping off the glass. i'll teach him a lesson though.

i got attacked by people on this forum when i told them i dont feed him food, other than what the other fish didnt get to. these fish were housed in the same tank as turquoise severums, and parrot cichlids.

i have a 10 inch pleco in there who only eats cucumbers and sleeps, doesnt really do his job. why are these fish so docile though?? they are constantly cleaning off their cave, and they have laid some eggs too. but they are not the least bit aggressive, they are being bullied by my female krib...

Piranhas can be kept in large enough tanks with exodons, the exodons are in same case aggressive enough to back a piranha into a corner, and eat its scales off.

How do you know the difference between Honduran Red Points and Convicts? I bought a pair of cichlids labeled Convicts, but their bodies are not white, as described, but more grayish. Also they are spawning and are not aggressive at all, and are actually being bullied sometimes.

I had a breeding pair of kribs who were together for about a year. recently the female died for some unknown reason, so i bought snother female. the male krib is attacking her when she comes near his previous breeding site. he hides in his cave all day. will he ever pair up again??

Thanks for the info, i gave the male back to the lfs, he was getting shredded by the female. they were not sold as a mated pair. people always talk about their success with convicts, well i guess i have a failure story. i am looking for a male still to try it again
