I've recently bought a new (much bigger) tank & I'm considering going from sand to black gravel as a sustrate. The tank dimensions are 48" long by 12" wide by 18" deep - how big a bag of gravel would I need for it? I'm assuming that an 8kg bag would easily be big enough, but don't want to overdo...

I haven't got another tropical tank - I've got a smaller one but it's got 2 goldfish in so wouldn't be any good. I finshed the course of Maracyn Two almost a week ago & have had carbon in for the last 3 days - should I do another course of Maracyn or try & get swim bladder treatment?

He doesn't look either bloated or thin - if it is swim bladder it hasn't swollen yet - he still seems heavy at the rear even when on the sand & I think the slight lean may have been due to him being by both filter intakes as it's not noticeable when he moves to another area?

Ok - the zebs are still fine, but 2 days ago I bought 2 red honey Gourami & now one of them is flicking like mad (no rubbing from any fish or flicking from any others) & is swimming with his nose right up in the air :shout: what's good for parasites? He also just keeps sitting on the sand &...

None of them have improved as there's never been any deterioration to be honest so I'm at a loss - think I might just leave medicating yet again for a bit otherwise I'll end up with the equivalent of smackhead fish :D

I'd get some anti-whitespot treatment in there ASAP - unsure on the table salt as I've never added any due to having Corys - Waterlife Protozin kills pretty much all of the known ichs / whitespot - you should be able to get some from about £4

Is he swollen at all? What are your water stats?
