The choice of fish stores around here is not great. The only one i trust is struggling to get one for me.

I have been given the job of cleaning my nans goldfish when I go over to her house. This week I have noticed a black discolouration on the dorsal fin and gills. Any ideas what it could be? I have a feeling its fungal? I have no water stats as it's my nans fish. Gem

I'm sure he would be fine in a community tank my betta is in a tank with 3 guppies, 1 silver tipped tetra, an algae eater, and two balloon mollies and he has been no problem to any of them. Gem x

I'm thinking about getting a collection of bettas. I have seen tanks that are quite reasonable. It's a fish r fun frf bb aqua box beta. Has anybody used them or have any ideas about them. Plus if I do get it what do I need in their for the fish?

Yes they are very happy, especially with their new gravel and friend! I'm just paranoid about having to give the algae eater away eventually. I know that they aren't everybodies favourites but I'm so fond of mine xxx

It's my fault really, I bought the fish like it thinking that it just had a bit taken out of the fin. Then the problem progressed. I'm glad it will grow back xx

Possibly a silver tipped tetra. I had them and it looks pretty similar x

I just put a new substrate in my tank, its natural coloured gravel. A bit of a job but we worth it. Will post pics when possible x

I would say swim bladder. It's happened to me and there is not much you can do about it. It's so sad though x

Just started treating my nans goldfish for fin rot. How long should it take before I see results. Also a large percentage of his dorsal fin has been eaten away, any chance this will grow back? x

Thanks for the advice. I have my eye on the algae eater, I have a home for him when he is too big, at the moment he is quite placid. The betta was originally in a tank of guppies so fingers crossed!!

He's in a 30 litre tank with three guppies, two mollies and and alage eater. Theres plenty of plants and a little bridge he can hide in.

I have just bought my very first betta. He's a beautiful red with the most adorable grumpy face. Any tips on how to give the best possible life in my tank! x
