I'll clarify, bees are also known as crystal black, they are the same species as crystal reds. All that will happen should I mix the two forms would be eventually I will only have the black colouration if they breed. Try the one at Dobbies Garden centre, quite a few rarer fish there. In my opinion you can't get better than A5 aquatics in Leicester, they're stock is always in good condition when I go there and the staff know their stuff :)

Okay that's cool, I was half thinking about them for my tank but having a shoal of 6 might have been pushing it for a regular shape 5 inch fish. The ones that I had as a kid were full of character so I might go for them :)

Does a full grown khuli loach have a high bioload? The reason I ask is that although they are 4-6 inch or so long, they're very narrow and not exactly meaty, so I'm thinking the bioload would be similar to maybe a 2 inch tetra? I'm asking mainly out of curiosity here, cheers guys AJ

Most tetra (including columbian red fins) prefer a slightly acidic environment so pH 6 shouldn't be a problem for them. Of all the fish that you bought that died, did you buy them all from the same source? You may simply have a bad retailer.

Lemons would provide a nice contrast, plus their really active and great shoalers with pretty much any other tetra!

By adding more you disperse the aggression among the group, obviously not a hard and fast rule but if you have a shoal of 6 then aggression should one fifth what it was. Tetra do so much better in a group so definately consider adding more :) AJ

Definately go for a planted tank whatever you go for, small densely planted tanks always look great in my opinion! Have you thought of maybe shrimp or something like that?

On the hot tap issue, I believe the biggest risk is to inverts, hot water will leach copper into the water which is toxic to most (actually I think all) invertebrates. It's not great for fish either from what I understand but I don't know what problems it causes for them.

Danios are scatters, it'd be an odd place for danio eggs, especially as they're non adhesive they should just bounce off to the substrate. Indidently as far as I know danios scatter them over the substrate anyway so the filter is especially unlikely to be targeted
