    Where Are My Khuli's?

They generally hide alot, I have 6 P.anguilaris (similar in behaviour to P.khuli) and they seem far more confident when the lights go out and it can be weeks at a time before I see all 6 at once. Fantastic little creatures though, I suggest bring the group size up to around 10, they're very...

    Crystal Reds And Bees

I'll clarify, bees are also known as crystal black, they are the same species as crystal reds. All that will happen should I mix the two forms would be eventually I will only have the black colouration if they breed. Ta for the help anyway guys, might have to pick some up with my next pay cheque ;)

    Crystal Reds And Bees

Hey guys, I've got some crystal reds and want some Bee shrimp, aside from all offspring eventually being bee shrimp due to the recessive red gene is there any reason not to keep these together? Cheers in advance guys AJ

    Decent Lfs In Leicestershire

Try the one at Dobbies Garden centre, quite a few rarer fish there. In my opinion you can't get better than A5 aquatics in Leicester, they're stock is always in good condition when I go there and the staff know their stuff :)

Larger Fish For My Community Fish Tank.

Shouldn't find any problems by adding 2 then getting bigger fish later (Go on get more neons, you know you want to :D) Any thoughts on the rainbows? There's quite a few out there and some of them are beautiful, my next tank will probably be congo tetra and rainbows. They kinda look like the poor...

Larger Fish For My Community Fish Tank.

Whatever you get I wouldn't go for anything with long fins on account of your gobies. There are two species of bb gobies that are sold as such and although both are brackish fish one does tolerate freshwater just fine. The key is in their stripes, the species it needs to be is Brachygobius...

    Khuli Feeding Schedule

Hey guys, I picked up 6 really nice Khulis a week ago, I'm just wondering how anyone else feeds them. At the moment I'm using flake in the morning (my tetra usually get all that!) and flake + sinking pellet after lights out. I'm gonna go and pick some blood worm up for them today which I think...

    Sulawesi Elephant Snails Id

I've just picked up two very beautiful looking elephant snails, they're really active and on the look out for food at the moment. Thing is I want to ID them to species level, anyone know of any good Tylomelania sites 'cos I can't seem to find any... Cheers AJ

    Khuli Loach Bioload

Okay that's cool, I was half thinking about them for my tank but having a shoal of 6 might have been pushing it for a regular shape 5 inch fish. The ones that I had as a kid were full of character so I might go for them :)

    Khuli Loach Bioload

Does a full grown khuli loach have a high bioload? The reason I ask is that although they are 4-6 inch or so long, they're very narrow and not exactly meaty, so I'm thinking the bioload would be similar to maybe a 2 inch tetra? I'm asking mainly out of curiosity here, cheers guys AJ

    Very Puzzled - Need Help!

Most tetra (including columbian red fins) prefer a slightly acidic environment so pH 6 shouldn't be a problem for them. Of all the fish that you bought that died, did you buy them all from the same source? You may simply have a bad retailer.

    Mixing Crystal Reds And Cherrys

Tetra Species To Compliment Serpae And Bloodfin

    Lighting Black Neons?

By adding more you disperse the aggression among the group, obviously not a hard and fast rule but if you have a shoal of 6 then aggression should one fifth what it was. Tetra do so much better in a group so definately consider adding more :) AJ

    Gold Neon Tetra

I'm looking at getting a shoal of gold neons to go with my green neons in one of my tanks, has anyone had any experiences with Gold neons? I'm assuming their care is essentially the same as neons but I just want to know if there's anything to watch out for. Cheers guys! AJ

    Aquarium Chiller

I'm looking around for a chiller for my marine tank, I need to keep my tank at around 20C, I'm looking for something fairly cheap, I don't need a big one 'cos I only got 12 gal, has anyone had any experience of this model? It seems too good to be true for the price. Here's a link to a site...

    Sooo I Have A 10 Gal Tank

    Water Changes

On the hot tap issue, I believe the biggest risk is to inverts, hot water will leach copper into the water which is toxic to most (actually I think all) invertebrates. It's not great for fish either from what I understand but I don't know what problems it causes for them.

    Mississipi Map Turtles

I got back from volunteering at the sea life centre yesterday and they're looking after about 100 map turtles that were impounded at customs. I'm thinking about setting up a tank for some as I saw them feeding and they've got so much character! I was just wondering if anyone else has kept them...

Female Betta For My Spare Tank?

I have a spare tank and I'd like to get back into Bettas. Thing is my tank is 12 gallon (UK) so a single male would like quite lost in it, my LFS has some amazing females instock and they're looking attractive to me. I'm sure I've seen some nice groups of females kept in a tank but I am a little...

    Questions With A Twist

Agreed, nice idea but this would not only be very inefficient, it'd more than likely be more noisy than a chiller as well. Looks like I'll def be boosting my light levels, I'm thinking two T5's with reflectors should be plenty. Cheers guys :) AJ That's good to know, I was thinking I'll...

    No Going Back Now.

I've really enjoyed reading this journal, you've got a great tank there Victor, how much was the clearseal? I want to move my coldwater marines if possible and I want to do it as cheaply as possible considering the price of chillers!

    Questions With A Twist

Okay so I have a 12 gal (UK) that's been set up for around 6 months, I've had some problems (hermit mass die off) and some successes (anemone, chiton, and snail breeding) but I want to push a lot which I haven't tried yet. My set up consists of; 12 gallon saltwater, 6 inch air stone, internal...

    My New Marine

Okay first off I just want to say thanks to you all for your help, it'll be worth it when I get another tank, but (sorry if you feel I've wasted your time) I've decided to keep it as it is. I've currently got it set up as a native marine tank and lost a bit of confidence with it when I lost a...

    My New Marine

Peppermints were one of thoughts, though I must admit I'm not too fussed by aptasia. That's good 'cos I pretty much only want mushrooms, maybe shell out a bit more on advanced lighting after a while, or try and convince my girlfriend that it's perfectly acceptable to sit on the floor so we...

    My New Marine

The main selling point on the external for me is the ability to include a phosphate remover. Lighting may be a small problem for me 'cos I want some mushroom anemones, a few pin point LED's could maybe work? Along with the T5's obviously. My first stocking choices were gobies, I find them...

    My New Marine

So I've managed to convince my girlfriend that what we really need in our flat isn't some curtains so people can't see into the bedroom, but a nice shiny new marine tank! The stipulation is it can only be 12 gallon (UK), now beggars can't be choosers so I started planning my nano last night...

    Help With Id'ing Freshwater Shrimp

Okay it's definately not a Sulawesi shrimp, they are beautiful and I've been lucky enough to snorkel in a lake that was full of a slightly different form of them. The vibrancy of the red and white stripe are the same as the sulawesi but they are vertical stripes along the length of the shrimp. I...

Eggs On The Back Of The Filter Housing

Danios are scatters, it'd be an odd place for danio eggs, especially as they're non adhesive they should just bounce off to the substrate. Indidently as far as I know danios scatter them over the substrate anyway so the filter is especially unlikely to be targeted

    Help With Id'ing Freshwater Shrimp

Hey guys, I want some shrimp for my 12 gal, I saw some in Maidenhead but want to find a few things out first. They're colouring looks exactly like marine cleaners, same shape etc as cherry shrimp and marked in the shop as tiger shrimp but I want a latin name if possible, anyone care to help? AJ
