DO NOT GET IT TOO BIG!! leave the puppy in the crate unless she is right with you. Take her outside on a regular basis. When she goes give her three...

    Walmart Cichlids 2

auratuses are very aggresive and in that small of a tank they may be more aggresive than usual. You really do need a big tank and over-stocking a small tank will just add to the problems

Just what we need, another pet

I agree. The males are the talkers. And with the type you have (a gray) the males get a yellow face with bright orange cheeks and the females have a greay face with dull orange cheeks.

    Turtle

All Tortioses require a lot of space. I have no idea which is the easiest or the cheapest. We got ours from a reptile show for about $50. The problem with them is figuring out what you will do with them when they get really big, or when they out-live you. They can live outside in warmer climates...

buying chicilids for the first time

You could start with the basics. Red Zebras or Kenyis. I would stay away from auratuses. They tend to be kinda aggresive

    Venustus problems

I had a 29 gallon tank to start off a cichlid tank. I put in 3 tenny tiny babies in there, including a venustus. They grew big and a year later I put them in a 55. I added a few more fish and then a month later I moved them to a 150. Through all the tank changes I used all of the old water from...

    Turtle

George basically has free roam of my basement. It's too cold to put him outside and he's not huge yet. He has a house with a light and what-not on it. We feed him all kinds of veggies and sometimes the occasional fruit (fruits have a lot of acid and aren't very good for him). The only things we...

    Puffers and Gouramis

I have a 29 gallon tank with 2 pink kisser gouramis and 2 blue paradise gouramis (have semi-long fins). There are a few plants and some roman columns for decorations. It has a river rock bed.
