It has finally happened.... after 55 years of fishkeeping... I found one of these in my tank... I have read about them and kept an eye out... and to date... never seen one... My son bought some Moonlights and dwarfs and chucked them in my tank and.. two days later... I noticed it on the forehead...

Do you think that day/night cycles are important to fish??.... is it cruel to leave the lights on in a fishroom during the night??….. Currently… I leave the lights on 24/7, as… in past experience… I have lost more fry and/or eggs being eaten by the parents during the period that I switched off...

In around 2011... I bought a 6 inch piece of Hornwort at a petshop for R5..... (about 50p)...This plant is soooooo prolific... that I have to cut back from time to time... as so many times before.... I chucked out barrows full this afternoon as there are no takers for it..... This is the lot...

Hi Sammy.... Get yourself some Hornwort floating plants.... and discard the breeding nets or breeding traps... Just allow your Platties to have their fry naturally and ensure that you have ample hiding place for the fry... they are experts at hiding and the parents give them a fair chance of...

Suddenly... now that I move the stands back in.... the space seems limited...... I have moved 3 of the 4 stands back in.... Still one to collect that has to go against the wall behind me.... I will start putting the tanks in the stands on Friday.... after connecting the wall mounted heater.....

  lol.... This specific stand has been in use since 1974/5...... I am merely refurbishing it.... (first refurbishment in almost 40 years).... I have 4 stands to do, of which the oldest one was acquired in 1972.....

OK!!!!... with the grouting etc completed inside the fishroom... I am now starting work on the stands... There are 4 of them.... here are some changes done to the first one... extra support welded on.. and repainted... Before... And... to where I got today....(not completed though)

I was given this dual T5 lighting by my son.... In transit... the one tube was broken... now... the light will not come on when I switch it on... it comes on for a second or 2.... then goes off.... is it essential to have both tubes in for it to work??.... or.. should it work with only one...
